The Cheerful Musings Of A Happy Hijabi

Good morning, my smiley-faced friends! Hope you're all doing splendidly in the mind-blowing adventure otherwise known as life. I certainly hope I am, but Allah SWT knows best, of course. Smile

So, here I am, collapsing with joy over the keyboard (slight exaggeration) at the fact that I have just finished my first month – yes, people, my FIRST MONTH – of full-on hijab wear.

And why, some might ask, am I bothering you lovely radiant people with such information? Well, do not fret, do not fear, and do not fuss, for I shall do my best to respond. The response is as follows:

Amnesty: Rape girl, 13, killed for adultery

Amnesty: Rape girl, 13, killed for adultery

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) -- A 13-year-old girl who said she had been raped was stoned to death in Somalia after being accused of adultery by Islamic militants, a human rights group said.

Dozens of men stoned Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow to death Oct. 27 in a stadium packed with 1,000 spectators in the southern port city of Kismayo, Amnesty International and Somali media reported, citing witnesses. The Islamic militia in charge of Kismayo had accused her of adultery after she reported that three men had raped her, the rights group said...

Heels...HARAAAAM!

I've been wondering... as a girl, im attracted to shoes. but islamically, what shoes are halal. I mean i no flats and trainers are halal, but what about heels, i had this one pair of heels and i added a piece of rubber to the heel, yet it still clicked on the floor. there is a a quranic verse that says ' and strike not your feet ' is this referring to the sound made by heels?

An integrated Citizen

As'salaamu 'alaykum,

A common complaint against the muslim community is that we lack integration in common society. I do not agree with this notion, but I do recognise that we could do more. What I would like to know is how integrated you feel you are with your own community. I do not mean hanging around with your muslim/non-muslim chums, but becoming agents of change, being involved, participating, and playing a greater role strengthening community relations. Becoming a school governor, community support officer, media savvy, etc

It takes effort to become actively involved in your community, and making positive contibutions, but I feel that this is a road that we have not fully considered travelling upon or developed to any significant level.
