If your happy and you know it clap your hands!

Salaams ppl,
Over the years ive been to several award ceremonies, theatre performances and non Islamic guest speaker talks at uni. At the end of the ceremony, performance or talk it is courteous to applaud and sometimes even stand up and applaud. From my observations I have noticed that not many Muslims applaud and I have always put this down to arrogance. However, the very few Islamic lectures that I have attended there is no applauding at the end of the session, rather we say the Takbir. This got me thinking maybe clapping isnt allowed in Islam. How many of us clap to show our gratitude? How many of us dont clap? If you dont then what are your reasons?

Your thoughts ppl.

CONVERTS

Salam

This is a website of new muslims who recently joined God:

http://www.revertmuslims.com/stories.html

If you know some more sites please give links here.

This one has a chat forum too. I think I should join and have fun with the new comers?

Its always interesting to read what exactly bring a person to a new faith.

It must be hard to leave your own religion and join a completely new one.

It is quote weird that so many Americans are converting to Islam.

Its strange.

One would have expected U.S. to
turn away from muslims especially after 9/11.

Omrow

Jihad, The West, Muslims and The Future

This is branching off from a discussion in chat. I raised the probably quite dirty opinion that Muslims might be indifferent or opposed to violent jihad but excited at the prospect that it goes hand in hand with dawah, migration and birth rates in promoting the expansion of Islam. Given that at present where there is a strong Muslim presence there is heavy lobbying to work with groups that support jihad, khlilafah and a hardline shariah, the above scenario would be of concern. Wahhabi says unite behind me, sure enough comes the day... For example, after 9/11 Al Muhajiroun was very keen to emphasise that OBL had polarised the world and apparently swollen Islam's numbers. So my question is about how Muslims relate to this scenario.

Pirates

[quote]MOGADISHU (Reuters) - An Indian warship destroyed a pirate ship in the Gulf of Aden and gunmen from Somalia seized two more vessels despite a large international naval presence off their lawless country.

The buccaneers have taken a Thai fishing boat, a Greek bulk carrier and a Hong Kong-flagged ship heading to Iran since Saturday's spectacular capture of a Saudi supertanker carrying $100 million of oil, the biggest ship hijacked in history.

The explosion of piracy off Somalia this year has driven up insurance costs, made some shipping companies divert around South Africa and prompted an unprecedented military response from NATO, the European Union and others.

Hajj 2008

Inshallah next month will be the month of Dhul-Hajj. Is anybody from these forums going to hajj this year or has been to hajj. I really would like to go. I think the ideal time to go hajj would be when you're young and for me i think this is an ideal time to go, i'm looking for a big change in my lifestyle and am looking for peace and contentment and i really had my heart set on going this year but due to circumstances at home, this year it wouldn't have been possible... Inshallah next year.

I have just realised that, I am quite ignorant about the rites. I know what hajj consists of but not in the specific order. I've just been reading up on it but the site i've read from sums up hajj in three days? Is this right? Could anyone break down how to perform hajj in a very simplified way.

my poem about world war 1

can you all help me perfect my poem thanx

The cries of the people around
Fill my subconscious
I see my family laughing
While I am unconscious

My life flashes before me
Visions and all
No hope or no glory
As I started to fall

It started as a struggle
As you must have guessed
A punch and a kick
From north, south and west

My feelings go crazy
The anger the hate
While a bullet hits my heart
As if it were fate

I grabbed my own chest
To feel my heart beat
As the blood just kept flowing
Right down to my feet

I looked all around
Whilst still in pain
The feeling of agony
Like being lashed by a cane
