Girls

Girls.

I don't know what boys are like in their groups - you can discuss that too.

Does anyone else find that girls are really weird ('bitchy') in groups?

Intelligent girls become so pathetic when they are in their groups?

They do/say things that you never would have attributed to the person?

Why is this?

Jewish flotilla to break Gaza siege

German Jewish group prepares flotilla to protest Israel's blockade on Gaza. 'Activists frightened, but not by Hamas,' member of organization says

The German-Jewish organization Jewish Voice for Peace in the Middle East is preparing a Jewish flotilla to the Gaza Strip. "We intend to leave around July," a member of the organization, Kate Leitrer, said to Ynet. "We have one small craft so far, in which there will be between 12 and 16 people, mostly Jews."

"Turkey killed more kurds in the past week than israel has killed palestinians in the past year"

Someone said the above to me while saying Turkey was being hypocritical - and so was the larger Muslim community by ignoring such things.

I don't have facts and figures to back up the assertion though as I did not ask.

What do you make of this?

Bid'ahs

Lots of talk about Bid'ahs so i thought a new topic was needed

what is the definition of Bid'ahs? Why are those actions Bid'ahs. Why are there Bid'ahs? (and any other question that end with "Bid'ahs")

you could also post some actions that you found out were Bid'ahs and, hamdoulillah, have managed to change, let us know (because maybe we're doing this action completely unaware that it isnt good for us)

(why do i keep writing bid'ahs with a capital letter?)

any advice...please??

Assalaamu alakum, I'm sorry to bombard you with my personal problems but I have no one else to talk to and would appreciate any advice.
When I was 16 my parents got me engaged to a guy who I didn't know very well at the time- but i went along with every thing cos i trusted my parents. After I got to know the guy i realised my parents were right and i have very much fallen in love with him. We want to get married but my parents wont allow it (even though they chose him!), you see I have a place in med school and if i get married now i wont become a doctor (cos i'll have to move abroad) and this would bring great shame on the family  .
What should I do? marry him and destroy my parents dreams? or spend 5 years doing something which i really wouldn't enjoy?

If we are allowed to participate in politics with Non Muslims, why didn't the Prophet (saw) give the Non Muslims leadership?

Just a topic to cover a couple of points raised in this blog: http://www.votinghalalorharam.blogspot.com/

The first one is pretty simple and obvious - when the quraysh offered the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) leadership/kingship if he stopped teaching the truth, the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) refused. Some people use this as a proof against participation in politics:

The evidences generally cited include Quranic verses and the offers of political involvement made by the leaders of Quraish to the Prophet(saw):[218]

“And the believers, men and women, are protecting friends (allies) one of another” (Quran 9:71)
“And incline (or accept) not to those who do wrong, or the Fire will seize you; and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor shall you be helped” (Quran 11:113)

"Our Da'wah (call)"

I read this off a website and wanted to get other people's opinion.

1. We believe in Allaah and in His Names and Attributes, as they were mentioned in the Book of Allaah and in the Sunnah of the messenger of Allaah, without tahreef (distortion, nor ta'weel (fiqurative interpretation ), nor tamtheel (likening) ,nor tashbeeh ( resemblance), nor ta'teel (denial).

2. We love the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah, and we hate those who speak againest them. We believe that to speak ill of them is to speak ill of the Religion, because they are the ones who conveyed it to us. And we love the Family of the Prophet with love that is permitted by the Sharee'ah.

3. We love the People of hadeeth and all of the Salaf of the Ummah from Ahlus-Sunnah.
