a hot weather warning

In the midst of a cold snap - a hot weather warning

As temperatures stay stubbornly well below freezing, it may feel like the last issue on anyone's mind, but the government has been warned it may need to start thinking about introducing emergency hot weather payments to help poorer households keep cool.

The Department for Work and Pensions is studying a specially commissioned report from the Met Office which concludes that the weather may become so hot that Britain's poor and elderly people may need state help to pay their summer energy bills as they reach for air conditioners to prevent themselves dying from heat exhaustion.

Bombing to make the Gaza prison even more secure for Israel

Bombing to make the Gaza prison even more secure for Israel

There are two persistent myths about the aim of Israel's onslaught on Gaza: the first that it is an entirely defensive move, a way to end the rocket fire of Hamas; and the second that it is designed to restore the army's credibility after its failure to cow Hizballah in 2006.

No doubt the Israeli army has been itching to repair its battered image, and for sure the rocket attacks from Gaza create domestic pressures that are only too clear to an Israeli government about to face an election.

Gaza conflict fuelling anger in UK, Muslims warn Brown

Anger within Britain's Muslim communities over the Gaza conflict has reached "acute levels of intensity" that could have repercussions for national security, leading Muslims will warn Gordon Brown today.

In a letter to the prime minister, representatives of Muslim organisations will say the Israeli government's use of "disproportionate force" to combat threats to its security has "revived extremist groups" and "empowered their message of violence and perennial conflict".

Bosses slam 'throw a sickie' ad

Bosses slam 'throw a sickie' ad

An advert for a cold and flu medicine has been criticised for encouraging workers to "throw a sickie".

The TV and web "Take a Benylin Day" ad offers advice on what to tell the boss when calling in sick and reviews the best DVDs to watch while at home.

The Federation of Small Businesses said the adverts were "outrageous".

The advertising company behind the campaign, JWT, said it had taken the advice of experts that taking a day off sick could help recovery from illness.

NEGLECT OF ARAB WORLD!!!

Salaam,
firstly jus to reiterate the genocide in gaza is not of a result of hamas firing rockets its of a result of the continuing israeli blockade of gaza and terrorism of israeli army upon gaza forcing hamas to fire rockets to protect itself...thus allowing israel to manipulate the media and rest of the world into thinking their genocide of palestinians is defensive.

The main issue is whilst the palestinians are being terrorised , killed and brutalised unjustly..why are the arab world not doing anything about it?

why are they neglecting the people of palestine?, what have the children of palestine done to deserve the arab world and the rest of the muslim countries to ignore them?
