Kanoute facing Palestine shirt fine

Freddie KanouteSevilla striker Frederic Kanoute is facing a fine from the Spanish football federation for revealing a T-shirt expressing support for Palestine during a match.

Kanoute lifted his Sevilla shirt over his head after scoring in the team's 2-1 Copa del Rey win over Deportivo La Coruna on Wednesday to display a black T-shirt on which the word "Palestine'' was printed in several languages.

The federation's Competition Committee is expected to study the incident on Friday.

Yellow card

Kanoute, who was born in France but plays internationally for Mali, is a practicing Muslim.

Israel shelled Palestinians after evacuating them, UN says

At least 30 people were killed in the Zeitoun district of Gaza after Israeli troops repeatedly shelled a house to which more than 100 Palestinians had been evacuated by the Israeli military, the UN said today.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said in a report it was "one of the gravest incidents since the beginning of operations" against Hamas militants in Gaza by the Israeli military on 27 December.

Leaders of Milan's Muslims are to meet the city's Roman Catholic archbishop to apologise for an impromptu prayer service they held in front of the cathedral, a statement from the archbishopric said.

Images of hundreds of Muslims bowing to Mecca in front of one of the pre-eminent symbols of Christianity in Italy prompted outrage among some, particularly rightwing, Italians. Israel criticised after 'shocking' discovery of exhausted children

Four exhausted children have been discovered cowering in a house next to the bodies of their mothers by staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross, which today accused the Israeli military of "unacceptable" delays in allowing medics safe access to injured Gazans.

The Red Cross workers found the small children, who were so weak they could not stand, sheltering next to the bodies of their mothers in a house in Zeitoun, southeast of Gaza City. Another man was found alive, but again too weak to stand. At least 12 bodies were lying on mattresses.

Obama camp 'prepared to talk to Hamas'

The incoming Obama administration is prepared to abandon President Bush's doctrine of isolating Hamas by establishing a channel to the Islamist organisation, sources close to the transition team say.

The move to open contacts with Hamas - which could be initiated through the US intelligence services - would represent a definitive break with the Bush presidency's ostracising of the group.

The Guardian has spoken to three people with knowledge of the discussions in the Obama camp.

Allah and the Qur'an

There is something i don't understand:

Why does Allah(swt) refer to himself as "we,us," in the Qur'an.

For example:

"Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide. "
(Surah Al-lail, verse 12)

And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning.
(Surah al-Lail

and why is there a reason why its in third person?

Jews and Jesus

i was just wondering, do Jews believe in Jesus/ hazrat Isa (as)? i always thought they did, but not for any particular reason. i just thought of the bible; the old testament is the Jews and the new is Christian's so they must believe in him << (im not sure if that makes sense)
but i dont Actually know...

Being a slob puts you at risk of mental health problems, experts have warned.

A lack of physical activity leads to depression and dementia, evidence presented at the British Nutrition Foundation conference shows

Currently only 35% of men and 24% of women reach the recommended weekly amount of physical activity.

Around 30% of boys and almost 40% of girls fail to reach the recommended hour of moderate intensity activity per day.
