Does anyone have a wireless internet connection?
If so can you please go into detail on how it works and what you have to do to get it connected; I'm talking about these wireless modem/routers.
I want to get one and have read about it and boy is it confusing.
Your PC needs to be in range of a router, the closer the better. Buy a wireless card which you can very easily connect to the computer, or if you're scared of that buy a USB wireless adapter. Then either let the Microsoft configuration utility find the connection (assuming you use Windows) or use the manufacturer's software. Either way it costs £20-30. You might already have a wireless card installed, check the device manager (right click My Computer and select Manage, look for Device Manager, expand Network Adapters and see if any of them are called Wireless something and if so make sure it is enabled). A wireless router isn't normally wireless, it transmits a cabled connection. If you have a router/modem with a mobile-phone style transmitter that's the one. Otherwise and assuming you don't intend to steal a neighbour's bandwidth it will set you back about £60-70 and again Windows or the manufacturer's software should make it easy. (If you want a lot of people to use the router locate it centrally or consider having additional points installed around the building.)

lol....sorry I wasn't clear enough. I'm only interested in the items I have mentioned above and haven't actually bought them.
I don't do internal bcoz I did abit of DIY before and messed up my PC so had to spend £100 fixing it, that's why I do everything external now.
I was on the xbox website and came across this http://www.xboxemea.com/playtogether/xboxlivemanual/, it clearly explains it using pictures. First click on 'Start Question Flow', then 'Other DSL Broadband', then 'Yes' and lastly click on both 'Router' and 'Home Gateway' and compare the difference.
It says "A router is a separate device that connects to your broadband modem to allow you to share your connection with more than one device.
A home gateway is a broadband modem and router combined, commonly used with ADSL broadband connections."
So I will need to buy a Home Gateway, which is modem and router combined, whereas a router is just.....erm a router, and I don't want that bcoz I'll then need to use a separate modem.
So imagine if I get a Router:
BT Line -> Modem -> Router -> PC
But if I get a Home Gateway:
BT Line -> Home Gateway (Modem & Router combined) -> PC
Did you even look at the link i gave??? That would have broke it down even better for you (from the fantastic site 'How Things Work').
I dislike using Home Gateways as they can have compatibility issues with some broadband providers... which is why i just use the modem the provider gives and hook that up to a router... but to each his own.

Yeah I did check the website out, I was looking at the xbox website bcoz as you already know I want to connect my console wirelessly along with my PC.
I noticed the link you gave explained WEP and WPA quite nicely, I was going through YouTube on wireless security issues and came across this video which shows the flaws of WEP and how easy it is to hack into someone's wireless network (you HAVE to watch this video, you'll be shocked), but luckily the Gateway I'm getting has WPA & WPA2 which is way more secure than WEP.
"Seraphim" wrote:

If I use a router and a modem, they'll take up more space, both have to be connected using an ethernet wire, and both will need their own power supplies, that's why I'm going for the Home Gateway. My current ISP requires us to buy the modem/router from them so I just bought my own. Hopefully my Wireless Gateway and USB adaptor should be here in a few days so I'll let you know if it worked. I really hope there isn't any compatibility issues with it as you have mentioned, or else I'm going to go mad!
I gave [url=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LINKSYS-WIRELESS-BROADBAND-ROUTER-A-G-WRT55AG_W0QQ... link above and said I was interested in it, if I bought the router it wouldn't have worked bcoz I just got an email from a business which sells it. In the streets of the UK. Broadcasted on DM Islam throughout the day. I don't understand why the police, who were present, didn't intervene??? Outside on the streets, loads of males, bare-chested punching themselves. I saw a young boy who looked about 11/12, punching himself as he walked past police officers, his chest bright red.
