The Prophet’s wives

I've notices that there seems to be conflicting opinions on the number of wives the prophet Mohammad (pbuh) had.

I've heard people say he had as much as 20 wives and I have heard people say he had just 6. In different Islamic books I've read conflicting numbers too.

I am quite confused because I thought all Muslims agreed he had 11 wives.

How many wives did he really have?, and can anybody prove this by quoteing an authentic source?

And why was he allowed to have more then 4 wives?

I would be grateful if you could help me out on this one.

Thanks.

ITS MY LIFE

An old man and a young boy were traveling through their village with their donkey. The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked.

As they went along they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding.

The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.

Later, they passed some people that remarked, "What a shame, he makes that little boy walk." They then decided they both would walk.

Soon they passed some more people who thought they were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the donkey.

Now they passed some people that shamed them by saying, "How awful to put such a load on a poor donkey."

(a letter to Muslimahs that don the hijab; written by a devout Christian woman - i think it is one of the most elequent and cogent articles on hijab that ive come across)

Between the Israeli assault on Lebanon and the Zionist “war on terror,” the Muslim world is now center stage in every American home. I see the carnage, death and destruction that have befallen Lebanon, but I also see something else: I see you. I can’t help but notice that almost every woman I see is carrying a baby or has children around her.

Could there be a more frustrating issue plaguing our young people
than gender relations? Despite taking part in so many knowledge
seeking activities why are divorce rates amongst Muslims so high?
1 in 10 Muslims are now divorced.

I love my shalwar kameez

They come in all colours, sizes and materials but there's nothing better than a well-fitted shalwar kameez.

There was a time when I would wear my shalwar kameez all the time...I even kept it on all day during Eid. But then some years ago I found people gave me funny looks and I got called freshie and all that. I stopped wearing it. It was either that or I'd have to shave my moustache off.

But I couldn't do it for long and was back wearing my trusted beige shalwar kameez everywhere.

Beauty pageants are big in the US…but apparently its catching on in the UK too.

How dodgy is this?
