Introducing TSMY

Assalam alaikum,

I have just joined the forum, so that I can update people on TSMY events.

About TSMY

The Sunni Muslim Youth is an organisation focused on catering for the social, educational and spiritual needs of the youth.

Based in oldham, we provide access to an Islamic library and multimedia room, which are managed by local young muslims.

In addition to weekly study circles, we also organise regular events, where we invite some of the most respected scholars to deliver talks in English.

MYP - Who Am I?

Assalamu-Alaikum borthers and sisters.

Muslim Youth Project is based in portsmouth where we have recently started doing things to help our youth.

We are holding a small yet inspirational conference on the 13th of may 2oo7 @ Buckland Community centre in portsmouth.

Our main speaker is Umar Abdullah - a revert brother who will be telling us about his troubled youth and his journey to Islam.

Along with him, we have got nasheed artists: Nazeel Azami, Slave Of Allah, and introducing the young talent Mahdud.

Visa age raised to curb forced marriages

Visa age raised to curb forced marriages
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article1563905.ece

THE minimum age at which foreign nationals can receive marriage visas to enter Britain is to be raised from 18 to 21 in an attempt to crack down on forced marriages, writes David Cracknell.

It will mean that about 3,000 people a year, mainly women from India, will be prevented from coming to the UK. Their intended spouse will also have to be at least 21 for them to be allowed into the country.

Times change

Salaam all

2night the clocks go back/forward one hour. (I can never figure out which...)

The default forum time will be corrected HOWEVER EACH INDIVIDUAL WILL NEED TO MAKE SURE THE TIME IN THEIR PROFILE IS CORRECT.

I cannot automatically alter times for individual users. Assuming everone even wanted to change their time. I assume Dave etc will not be affected by this.

Review of An evening with Baba Ali at Imperial College

Review of An evening with Baba Ali at Imperial College 23 rd March
By Showkat Ali

The event advertised as an evening with Ali at Imperial College, in my case became a 30 minute session with Ali and I interviewed him for two newspapers and several online journals and forums.

The event was a sell out with all the 800 tickets sold weeks ago and another 800 could just as easily have been sold.

The audience comprised a mixture of people, from the Islamic minded to the type of people you don’t normally see at Islamic talks.
