To a lesser extent have you guys ever went into schizophrenia mode in your parents presence?

All the time. Its the only way to survive. Its either that or straight up disobedience.

but why do you think it is so common?

is it just because of the culture we hv been brought up in? i mean strictness in one sense, but living in a complete different culture in britain which may contradict our upbringing and religion

Loads of reasons.

The main one being...parents don't understand the time and culture of their children and the children don't understand where their parents are coming from.

Kids find it hard to conform to what their parents want from them.

Also, I think respect of parents and/or fear of them plays a part in this game playing too.

I mean, if kids never respected their parents then they'd blatently disobey them...they wouldnt live double lives. The same applies to fear of parents.

why is it common?

For me its because I don't wanna give answers, as it'll lead to more questions, condemnation etc.

Far easier to just keep the mouth shut, occasionally smile...

everyone has a multiple life. You always react diferently to duferent people. You give diferent details to diferent people.

Its the politics of life.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
