I ahve suggested in the past that teachers should undertake teacher training courses.
I am of the firm belief that a child is always interested. If a child does not pay attention its because the teacher is boring him/her. There are other ways to make sure kids behave.
You can use rewards. It works brilliantly. And you can be as cruel as you like.
As an example, I once got into taking care of some kids in our house. They were running rampant at one point. I managed to control the situation using various means (cannot remember to be honest - it was a long long time ago), but one kid was still undermining me. So I went to shop, got them all sweets and the like. All except the one not listening. Before dishing them out I made them understand who was getting them and why. And also made it clear they could not be shared with those beiong deprived, or I will take them away.
It was cruel, but that is what I call not violent chastisement. It may have left emotional scars, but hey what do I care?
(oh me taking care of anyone is a joke in itself. I have at times got looks from 7 years olds thinking they are more mature than me! I rarely have to such things.)
The moral of the story is that there are always non-violent means a good teacher can use. A bad teacher will just need an excuse.
lol i just saw your post I was shocked, you actaly took care of children  I like your way of thinking, your approach was correct and its pretty much what I have been taught in psychology. It's interestin how kids behave in a situation where others are rewarded and they aint.
(It's true, but in the future it made the kids think before going against what I was asking...)

You're talking about the behavioural approach here.
Rewarding for good behaviour and punishing (deprivation of sweets in this case) for bad behaviour. There have been quite alot of experiments on animals regarding this idea.
More importantly, how to size someone up. Find out who will be good to listen to, and who can safely be ignored.
These are valuable life lessons.
I haven't really decided wether I am selfish or not yet. Too many variables. It all leads to confusion.
(and I would not say I took care of them. I was just as much a kid as anyone else.)

Lolz, mechanisms of operant conditioning, called reinforcers,if my memory serves me correct.
in my mosque i had two teachers, but i only remember one, he never laid a finger on any of us, n mashaAllah i still look up to him now this was like 10 years ago, he was such a sweet man, i miss him so much, he is ill at the moment so ppl do make dua for him.
anyways backto the topic, my daddy was considering fostering cuz i think it was shazan bhai who pointed out the some of the boroughs of london hav alot of Muslim kids who dont hav any families, i was reading some online n its so sad, there was on kid whose mother has a mental illness n no one knws the whereabouts of the father, n mother is unable to look after him so he has to be but into care. but due to some unforeseen circumstances we werent able to carry out the intention of fostering, but there is a major need for muslim carers out there

Maybe you hav not realised that calling people who by far may be much better than your-self nicknames is nothing much to be proud of, and is indeed a evil sin.
Shazan by bringin MQ into the convo to make a point is useless as lilsis said she aint even part of MQ
The point being is Miss tantrum is allowed to insult Med’S local Masjid and if he did insult MinHaj or whatever place she worships at, then he would be vilified...... that was the point
if ANY mosque i attended or didnt attend thought it was according to "islamic tradition" to beat kids
then by all means anyone wud have more then a right to insult that mosque

now if a had it my way i would have throttled each and every one of them...one days throttling would have sorted them out for good!
to go to the extent of even threatening to involve the authorities in the affairs of a madrassah merely to cause problems for Med is indeed very sad .
if u think that physically chastising a child is OK then good for u-for ur own sake i hope that higher authorities also see it that way
did i say that I will involve authorities into Med's mosque? did i say I'm gonna call them up? did i say I'AM gonna close that mosque down
i said "it wud be a shame if someone does that"
such things dont lie quiet anyway-its only a matter of time before action is taken
this happenened to a number of mosque Imams in forest gate
i aint naive enough t think that it wont happen again.
[b]EDIT: THREAD LOCKED
THIS THREAD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OPENING POST.
IF ANYONE WANTS TO DISCUSS ADOPTING CHILDREN OR THE PERMISSIBILITY OF BEATING THEM, THEN PLEASE START A NEW TOPIC.
The banner appealing for aid for Kashmir has been removed above the entrance of MinHaj, shouldn’t there be one for Lebanon!
Now the argument has died down, I will answer your question.
I asked a guy affiliated with Minhajul Qur'an. Thought it would be a good way to put him on the back foot. You know, have some expense at his expense...
I never got the chance.
He told me the guy who ran the show on the welfare side died a couple of months or so ago. His shoes have not been adequately filled yet.
The guy was pretty young early 30's I think, and very principled from what I have heard.
May Allah grant him mercy, and his family patience.
(So just becareful where and when you start an offensive operation. If anyone wants to discuss this further, either start a new topic, or post in notopic. This thread is still locked, but I felt after what I found out an answer was due.)
