Polygamy no fun, admits Ethiopian

BBC, Ethiopia

An Ethiopian man with 11 wives and 77 children is urging people not to follow his example and is giving advice on family planning and contraception.

After seeing his fortune disappear under the competing demands of his enormous family, Ayattu Nure, 56, even urges people not to get married.

"I want my children to be farmers but I have no land, I want them to go to school but I have no money," he says.

But his eldest son has not heeded Mr Ayattu's advice and he has three wives.

Islam: A History

I think its interesting reading and something people should be familiar with and thats the history of Islam and some of the major events that took place through out Islamic history.

I'll begin with something thats been on my mind for that few days 'The Origins of the Sunni/Shia split' i've very sketchy on exactly what happened during the time period after the death of the prophet(pbuh) so bear with me.

Since the death of the holy prophet(pbuh) there has been a debate as to the rightful succession to Caliph (Successor to the prophet(pbuh)).

From what i know Hasrat Ali (ra) became the fourth

Who's Taking Blame for Christian Violence?

Who's Taking Blame for Christian Violence?
by Calvin White

Now that imams in Britain and Canada are standing up and publicly condemning terrorist acts as anti-Muslim and against the teachings in the Qur'an, I wonder if pressure might be put on Christian leaders to take a similar stand.

Contrary to what some might like to insist, Christianity is not the religion of "an eye for an eye" but it is the religion of Jesus, who refined those earlier directions and distilled the ten commandments into two. One was to "love thy neighbor as thyself." Pretty definitive isn't it?

Attention has fallen on the role of madrassas, or Islamic religious schools, following evidence that one of the London bombers may have attended one.

Five young Muslims attending madrassas in Pakistan and Kashmir spoke to BBC Urdu Interactive about studying in the religious institutions and how they compare to secular education.

"I swear that I have never noticed any special sermon or other activities against the West or America" - Hafiz Rahmanullah

"My father is a mullah and he wants me to become a mullah like him"- Muhammad Hashim

"I joined a religious school to become a good hum

How strong is the Israeli Lobby?

Salaam.

Since the terrorist attacks of july, all reports about the hunt for the bombers etc always seems to have another following it mentioning how Israel has lived under this menace for far longer. Every report about prevention is followed by how its prevented in Israel. Every report of political issues are followed about how Israel has similar issues, but has dealt with them.

Today, Bliar went out of his way to condemn suicide bombings in occupied Palestine.

Now is this because of the strong pro-Israel lobby, or because Britain has a strong empahy with Israel?

MPAC- TROUBLEMAKERS OR EXACTLY WHAT THE MUSLIMS NEED TODAY?

SALAAM

MPAC- they're everywhere now? had that documentary and now they're on many TV channels, interviews etc.

They have a popular site
They ALWAYS bang on about mosques and Imaams...
They put alot of emphasis on being politically active, lobbying, voting etc
They are not shy to criticise Muslim leaders, politicians, Imaams etc Ajmal Masroor is their latest victim!

so what do you make of them? Are they exactly what we need?

Man Shot Dead By Police In London

Message By Admin: I have split this from the London Bombings topic, as it is a self contained discussion.

'SUICIDE BOMBER' SHOT

Police have shot a suspected suicide bomber at a tube station in south London.

Reports are also coming in that a mosque in the east of the capital has been surrounded by armed officers and residents told to stay indoors.

In the first incident, marksmen opened fire near Stockwell Tube station as passengers were evacuated. It is thought the man was killed.

Alarmed onlookers said they saw police, some in plain clothes, chasing a man before opening fire.

Secret Teenage Abortions

Secret teenage abortions

The case of schoolgirl Melissa Smith, who had a secret abortion aged 14, shocked many across the UK who were unaware their daughters could be given terminations without their parents being informed.

Speaking about her ordeal for the first time, Melissa tells Real Story how she now regrets losing the baby and wishes she had involved her mother in the decision.

Real Story follows the Smith family as they meet Sue Axon, a mother from Manchester who is about to launch a High Court challenge seeking to put an end to secret schoolgirl abortions.
