In England I think they expect us to know english Grammar at birth!
It is taught, but not how you would expect it. And not after primary school.
We have english literature and language in school. In literature you read old old books, and critique them. In language you just write essays on mundane things.
I think they think twice before picking on bad spelling now... due to dyslexia... it would not be politically correct... (that is an outright assumption though).
And Grammar in all writing software is attrocious. Spelling is what is needed.
I would say my grammar is good most of the time.

The british Education system is currently in the doldrums IMO.
They are at the place where there is not enough vocational training to be useful, nor enough theoretical education to be useful. They need to make some tough choices. Is school to educate people which can later adapt into an agile workforce, or to provide a workforce, which can continue to learn while they work?

Admin i completely disagree with your view of English grammar taught in British schools. I remember doing Grammar in secondary school as well as primary. Most of my English teachers were excellent though, this obviously has a massive impact on how much a student learns in the lesson. Grammar isn't particularly interesting ofcourse, so most kids just don't bother with it.

do u know the definitions of all the stuff highlighted in blue?
I learnt alot of that whilst studying Arabic (in english). All these grammatical terms would get used to describe the arabic word, and I would then have to learn what it was!
(and can people spell grammar properly. Its almost as bad as spelling 'spelling' badly!)

FYI duhboy
being articulate-knowing big words etc is nothing to do with grammer
grammer is stuff like saying "you're" in the right places instead of "your"
and placing the aprostophe in the right places
when i say articluate....you knw what i mean.....using bog words, correct pronunciation, grammaticaly correct in his words....
only 1 thing he has said slang/street..........'innit'....but only once
im gonna make that kid street smart for his own good
he needs more asian friends
