Thats fascinating.
From what I've seen Raja's seem to be very similar to MP's in their attitude to a lot of stuff. So I was just wondering if all Raja's were MP's.
BTW how accepting are the third generation MP's (i.e. you) to their parents ideals?
In my family the traditional way of doing things is what goes. But there have been instances where people have married outside of the family - with varying degrees of trouble.
My relatives in my generation are quite happy to get married to whoever their parents tell them to. But my closest Mirpuri friends don't look forward to it.

Ya'qub its good that you dont know cos its all a bit silly and narrow minded really .. just generalising types of Pakistanis from where they are from and different castes but our parents tend to do it more than us... i hope!!!
Submitted by Funzo on 25 November, 2007 - 21:56 #2258
Yes i agree with you to an extent because what they are doing is at a level of generalising but its that trend that the type of people set.

let me get this strait.....
you guys come halfway around the world, and then make generalisations about each other based on coming from a few miles away from each other?
does anyone realise that Islam got rid of petty tribalism over 1400 years ago?
(yes i DO realise as an arsenal supporter i have an irrational dislike of tottenham supporters...and that is not really any different).

I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference between all these types of Pakistani's or guess where they come from. I don't think I even know what I am... :?

I have a kid in my class who sticks his fingers in his ears, rolls around on the floor and covers his eyes when the music teacher is trying to teach my class xmas songs.
Its comical to watch.
He's told me that his mum says that he's not allowed to sing xmas songs.
I've accepted that reasoning. However, he really doesnt need to make a great big drama about it - esp since most songs are about snow and rudolf the red nosed reindeer.
His mum should also get him a written excuse to get out of recieving xmas presents and attending class xmas parties - not just singing.

I'm a bit confused here I thought some Raja were also MP :?
