The other one was getting a bit long, and was just full of bickering now.

So we have a new start.

In my family the traditional way of doing things is what goes. But there have been instances where people have married outside of the family - with varying degrees of trouble.

My relatives in my generation are quite happy to get married to whoever their parents tell them to. But my closest Mirpuri friends don't look forward to it.

you guys come halfway around the world, and then make generalisations about each other based on coming from a few miles away from each other?

does anyone realise that Islam got rid of petty tribalism over 1400 years ago?

(yes i DO realise as an arsenal supporter i have an irrational dislike of tottenham supporters...and that is not really any different).

yeah thats true.

Its why i only see people in terms of guy and girl.

Im not really interested in their ethnicity. As long as i can stand to be around them for a few hours thats fine.

I have a kid in my class who sticks his fingers in his ears, rolls around on the floor and covers his eyes when the music teacher is trying to teach my class xmas songs.

Its comical to watch.

He's told me that his mum says that he's not allowed to sing xmas songs.

I've accepted that reasoning. However, he really doesnt need to make a great big drama about it - esp since most songs are about snow and rudolf the red nosed reindeer.

His mum should also get him a written excuse to get out of recieving xmas presents and attending class xmas parties - not just singing.
