i have a question............well more like i need to know if its correct
i have heard that a woman can divorce her husband if he asks her to do something islamically unlawful e.g. taking off her head scarf, is this correct.

She can divorce her husband regardless. (some disagree here though...)
Divorce is disliked, but a marriage can be annulled for many reasons. If they are used.

yes i know she can divorce her husband regardless!!
i guess what i shud have said was what if she does do as he says, will it be classed as commiting a sin on her half aswell as his. or should she lets, say to save her marriage remove her headscarf but then isnt she better off divorcing him as hes asking her to commit a sin.

saadia, everyone is responsible for their own actions and so yes, a woman will be held accountable for removing her hijab. but there are many steps she can take before she is faced with an ultimatum - i mean discussing it with her husband would be a good start, getting him to see her point of view... if they have a good relationship, then surely he would listen to her, even if he disagrees to begin with? but if after all that he disagrees and still asks/forces her to remove her hijab, i dont see y she cant divorce him.

divorce is always the last option. Nowadays so many young couples resort to divorce like they're cancelling a cheque. Divorce is permitted only if all other avenues of reconcilement have not worked.
I believe a lot of issues married couples have could be resolved without divorce, but one partner or both just can't be "bothered" to make the effort. Or they're in such a fit of rage they don't see sense, and do things in the heat of the moment, which they later regret.
Many muslim brothers often say i divorce you, when they are angered by their wives, little realising they have effectively divorced their wives. They continue to live together out of wedlock believing everything is halal.
Divorce is disliked. The word disliked shouldn't be taken as Allah's happy approval of the act. None of us would like to displease our Creator. So we should strive to solve our marital problems with sincere intentions, before proceeding to divorce.

See the problem with your post is that you have given God a gender. Knowing full and well that God is beyond all human features and attributes.
So, to post what you did, it is clear that you are Ignorant.

he shouted and the topic died.
but here i am to BUMP!
and talk about polygamy! (as it seems to be what that topic turned into) with the NEW generation of Revivalers! (plus Mr You)
how would you feel girlies if your hubby wanted to marry again?
actually..i hope i marry someone who would marry a lady for a more honourable reason then "she's pretty" (And insinuating, that 1st wife isnt anymore). Something like a divorcee or widow. Like the prophet (pbuh) did.
and marrying someone younger (for a guy) for the worng reason is just sick. (imo) hopefully, no Muslim Brother would do that...
okay, what IS the problem with old guys marrying young girls? it feels sick and wrong to me but i cant identify why, anyone wanna have a go?
and i believe the husband has to be fair in all material stuff like time, money etc... but i believe there is this mention of a man not being able to control his emotions, hence he cant "love" both the same, and coz you're the first wife, you'll always be *Special* (hopefully :S ) so nowt to worry about eh?
we shoudlnt regard the 2nd wife as an enemy, for God's sake...that would be pretty childish, well as we said, cant control the emotions, some girls are jealous and possesive. *shrugs* that DOESNT mean it's okay for them to be like that. Islam should regulate our behaviour, just some are more prone to jealousy.. it SOMETIMES cant be helped...but that's not a good enough excuse imo.
I don't think it'd be easy to accept...
I've just read the whole topic  (no it didn't actually take that long!) and I agree with other posts on here, including some of MS and Yashmaki's, cbb to point them out now...
