Anyone have any faith in Hollywood making a decent version? I do not. The original is way too clever IMO for a hollywood remake...

Just realised that Hunters of Dune was released last year.
And The final chapter, Sandworms of Dune will be released this year. Hooray!
I have not read any of the prequels, but even then it is horrible reading 6 books in a series and having the author die before completing the story!
Thankfully he had the finale planned out and his son got his act together (after writing many prequels which I have not read...)
I have read:
1. Dune
2. Dune Messiah
3. Children of Dune
4. God Emperor
5. Heretics of Dune
6. Chapterhouse Dune.
The finish the Story, just about to order
7. Hunters of Dune
and then pre order for August
8. Sandworms of Dune.
I think i will miss out the 6 prequels.
PS even though I did not find them terribly compelling, I stil demand closure.
EDIT - Actually I lie. I probably will get the prequels aswell.

I love the films and books so much and I almost know the whole story off by heart.
The films are top and Peter Jackson did the best job he could to include as much of the storyline of the book as possible.
I have read all the Harry Potter books including the Half Blood Prince. I enjoyed it a lot at one point and read it all the time. However, now I think that there is no big deal and it should mainly appeal to youngsters who are interested in that kind of fantasy.

whats the point of reading the book when you can just go and see the movie?
Not read any Lord of the Rings books or Harry Potter (too long and books bore me, i just dont have the concentration span).
Lord of the Rings is good but i the third one kinda dragged (the fighting scene). When Harry Potter was first released i thought i would be quite babyish and aimed at the younger kids but it werent. Looking forward to the next one.
I have watched all but about the last or so hour of LOTR.
You see I watched it at work (on a projector with subtitles - so I did do some work)... and the day was only 8 hours long...

There are more spin off books now, but I will not read them. reading 13 or so books is enough.
Reading can get annoying.

If you want something which will make you feel queezy watch this
I saw it last year on Channel 4. It is wierd... and deply disturbing.
(I spotted that again after I was looking for the , which I may buy, as I cannot seem to get hold of the second tw anywhere else... and the first was a masterpiece.) This trilogy is also being remade in Hollywood, with the first part due this year, called The Departed.
