This is going onto another topic which i don't really want to do cause it may annoy people.
To answer your question though what more can be done in grooming apart from just making yourself look presentable (for men that is)? What kinda makeup would men wear?
Don't get me wrong i'm all for looking good, i always make an effort

Lets reunite the ummah under one flag LA ILAHA IL ALLAH MUHAMMADUR RASULULLAH
People with white hair were encouraged to colour it.
Surma for the eyes, and its not JUST because it had health properties.
At the conquest of Makkah, the prophet had his hair in 3 plaids.
I think there is a hadith on the line of "God is beautiful and likes beautiful things".

Lol. Make up doesn't go in and out of season, that's clothes and shoes. People have always wore make up.
It does go out of season since shops/companies have 'summer' collections and 'winter' collections etc. I know people who wear a certain colour in one season and a different in another :/

Calm down, he clearly said it was his opinion and he obviously doesn't know from a women's perspective. Nothing wrong with sharing your opinion - it didn't need to be challenged in such a harsh manner :/
(I had deleted this earlier but re-writing it)

It was baseless so what was the point of saying anything in the first place?

It's all the same.
Clearly some people feel different shades work better in different times of the year. And that is based on 'advice' from what the company/mags/models/'specialists' etc show and say looks better and is 'in'/ 'fashionable'
Therefore Foysol's comment is not baseless.
So what if it was baseless, like I said, you could've challenged him less harshly.

Because they want you to buy the products, most make up sale advisors work on commission so they will say anything to make you buy the products.
And if you look at the make up it is exactly the same other than the floral box/packaging for summer.

That doesn't refute my actual point :/

What do you consider a decent amount of grooming/makeup?
(because this is just a friendly discussion, I will tell you my aim - to show you that even the prophet himself may have done more than what you consider the decent amount.)
What IS the decent amount of make-up allowed?
I have to say, I find the thought of wearing make-up inside the house strange...

why?
Cos I dont normally wear it unless at weddings, which is like twice a year? Well maybe not strange, but uncomfortable to wear in the house and I wouldnt wanna feel uncomfortable in my own home. Actually, no I do find it weird, the way Im imagining it in my head...

Well what do you think???? mascara in it self isnt haraam, Allah swt doesnt say its haraam as i sed its the way u wear it, you can get differnt types, sum which are very dark and some which are light, and for lip gloss, is Vaseline haraam? its more a less the same thing. its hwo you wear it!!!!!! get it in your head!!! and if you tried to lower your gaze you wouldnt be asking stuch stupid questions!
Well today I'd seen a really beautiful Muslim girl she had a hijab and she looked intoxicating. If she was covered up properly, and didn't have the make up on as she did. I wouldn't be thinking about her right now. Actually she was very beautiful I can never forget her face.
YOU ARE DISGUSTING.

I soo agree, what kind of topic is this?
First he asks if wearing make up is haraam, if it is how would it benefit him
he wouldnt have noticed females wearing it in the first place if he wasnt perving ... FREAKO!

not talking about this guy in particular but generally men and women should know about the issues concerning the other so they can teach their wife/husband/siblings/children etc, I think.
Also I don't think you have to really stare to notice the make up, sometimes (or generally) it just noticeable.

For some bizzare reason, whenever I bump into my friends from my school days I'm amazed at how much they have let themselves go. I'm not implying that people should still look like the thin size 8, pretty girls they used to look like when they were in school...I understand it can be hard after kids etc
But when you're married dont you know have a reason to make even more of an effort? dont you now have someone to impress? the girls who used to make so much effort before marriage, make zero effort after marriage.
im not suggesting that people were it out of the house. but the whole point of make up is to enhance. use it. when applied properly it can even out your complexion and make your eyes appear bigger, brighter etc etc
there's this thing ive seen with muslim women (esp the ones in the west) they stop making the effort when they get married or when they become practsing. or both. why?
In this side of the world, the Arab women are the ones who are covered from head to toe and even have their faces covered...but underneath their abayah they are groomed from head to toe.
IMO its important to make the most of what you have.

Make your mind up, was it or wasn't it?
Of course it was baseless, what did he base anything he said on? He hadn't asked any woman about why they wear make up etc.
And i didn't challenge him harshly. Just made it crystal clear.
Whatever.
I meant if it was/if you think it was. I don't think it was.
And you replied like rudely and crazily defensive for no reason.
"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi
Lol. Where was i rude or defensive?
I was just making a point.
He just made baseless assumptions and i cleared that up.
ok.

nice.... award winning peace..hmm... enticer; TPoS. without whom i would have most probably been the witness of WWIII unfolding.

Indeed Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty.
What are people arguing about?
Tisnt random. its cos of the way she does her make up

My issue with make up is - the lack of it.
