Favouritism? Since when did THAT exist for Him?
Its not favouritism at all.
In the same way as everyone's destiny is different so too are our tools to achieving it.
People who are bestowed such knowledge, have it for a reason. Perhaps their faith is stronger than our own? Perhaps their understanding of deen is better than ours.

there were two men, had exactly the same dream. one got good tidings and the other was exposed as a robber and was arrested. if the dream hadn't been interpreted he would have got away.
Not sure that's quite correct. My housemate (student of shariah) said that the first man got good tidings that he would go to Hajj. The second man (with exactly the same dream) was told it meant that he would BE robbed.
Same point though. Either way, it shows that it is impossible to get the meanings of dreams from books which promise to interpret them.
Not sure that we CAN'T talk about dreams. Cos one of the Sahaba had a dream he gave the adhaan, which was how the Prophet decided that that was how Muslims she be called to prayer. If the Sahabi HADN'T mentioned his dream, how would the Prophet have heard it?
