Here's something: If you find out that one of your child is 'swinging' towards homosexuality then how would you deal with it? (points to be noticed: that you have more than one child)

lol, that reminds me of an episode of The Simpsons, where Homer thinks Bart might be swinging both ways.

o yh wher he takes bart to a steel factory, i mean a gay steel factory... ltho!

I dont think Simpsons is a good place to learn life lessons from.

Chin up, mate! Life's too short.

I disagree.

Sodomy is haram.
The whole people of Prophet Lut were destroyed for this act.

Case closed.

You sound like George Bush Snr. That is not a good thing.

The Simpsons is one of the most moral shows in TV, the family really love each other, they do so much for each other and they accept each others flaws.

What is so 'unislamic' about the morals in the show? I can think of episodes where strong family values, telling the truth, accepting other people's differences, staying faithful to one's spouse, forgiveness, not loving money/fame, and many other things are encouraged. I can't think of any shows where there are 'unislamic' values are presented.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

in one show they dissed or said something not very nice about makkah. since then i've stopped watching it.

why? it's just a city. There's nothing special about 'it' on it's own.

to you maybe, but to me makkah means a lot. it is the city Allaah (swt) chose his habib Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) to be born in.

Don't get me wrong, I loved it a lot. Nowhere else is the complete display of the extremes of the BEST and WORST of human nature. It was a place for me to forget the outside world and all my problems back home, it put everything in my life into perspective. I want to go back soon, and many times after that.

But for a non-Muslim, let them say what they like. Even if its about Allah (swt) and the Prophet (saw). I like Free Speech (whatever people are saying), do you really think we could do the Revival Magazine without Free Speech? In a Christian country it would be blasphemy to say that Isa (as) was MERELY a Prophet or that Muahammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) was even a Prophet at all (yes, I know you know this already).

everyones different. i may find something offensive and you might not.

So if you talk to someone new then they'll probably bite you? Yaqub, I don't know if you've realised but Homer is a drunk idiot who loves beer more than his own family. Oh, but that's halal right?
Or were you being sarcastic?

Chin up, mate! Life's too short.

Actually thats not true. In one ep Homer gave up beer FOR his family, bcoz they thought he drank too much. What does that tell you?

OK, so then what? You never saw him drink beer again?

Chin up, mate! Life's too short.

Yeah but drinking beer is 'halal' within his value system.

I'm not saying we should copy them in their actions.

But no, I wasn't being sarcastic. The Simpsons is very moral, beer is irrelevant to that.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

Whatever you say, Yaqub.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Simpsons is haram to watch, but please don't see it as a programme that gives you real life lessons.

And Love2Live, if a priest is gay, atleast he should try and control it.

Chin up, mate! Life's too short.

I don't know, you're gonna have to ask a priest about that.

Chin up, mate! Life's too short.

erm we need a separate thread for homer simpson lool. If i may add a comment, i remember hearing a audio "the shadows" new world order, and i was pretty sure i remember it saying the creator of show was a anarchist, and created the show to broadcast his believes into as many sweet homes as he could. Something like that years old but still available. Anyways i don;t know if i believe everything i heard in it,but i googled it and managed to find an extract concerning the simpsons and freemasonary:

(g) The Simpsons
Matt Groening the creator of the most famous cartoons The Simpsons is a self confessed anarchist. He has himself admitted that he wanted to get his own political ideas across within his own work but he wanted to do it in such a way that people find it easy to accept his ideas & the means he chose for this was the cartoon "The Simpsons". There are many lessons programmed to us. These include disregard for authority, either parental or governmental, the bad manners & disobedience is the ways of attaining status amongst people & the ignorance is cool whereas the knowledge is unfashionable. However, what is especially worrying is the masonic undertone in one episode in particular. The father of the family "Homer Simpson" get obsessed by a group of people known as "Stone Cutters" or should they be called the Freemasons. Upon joining the group, his fellow members find a birthmark on him, the mark which makes the rest of the group declare him to be the chosen one. So goes on to say: "I always wondered if there was a god. And now I know. There is, and its me."

(ref: )

in the same search another interesting article regarding why theological groups detest the simpsons largely from Christian view but still concerns muslims, seems interesting i started reading it:

()

“O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” [Ghafir : 39]

Nothing wrong with that - I would consider myself to be an anarchist.

dont you love it anymore?

Behold...Me!

I meant I loved Makkah when I went there. I still love it, yes.

Regarding Simpsons and Freemasonary 'fatwa'...

You have absolutely got to be kidding, Hajjar. Have you ever heard of 'satire', before? The episode was taking the mick out of cults like the Freemasons, and Homer thinking he was a 'god' was showing how large groups/crowds/cults of people can lead us to think we are something that we aren't. If anything, the episode was an effective warning at the dangers of following crowds, over-praising people, etc. and this can be seen at the end of the episode: Everyone gets fed up with Homer acting horrible because he thinks he is above himself, so they leave the 'Stonecutters' and start a 'No Homers Club'. I can't think of another mainstream tv program that deals with quite adult, philosophical themes in an accessible and entertaining way. Maybe South Park.

The trouble is, people don't ever look beyond the surface of something. This is why they hear Homer say 'I am god' and think "ASTAGHFIRULLAH! A KAFIR-MUSHRIK PROGRAM IF I WATCH THIS I WILL STOP BELIEVING IN THE ONENESS OF ALLAH (swt)!!"

Don't just do something! Stand there.

im not allowed to watch simpsons

Behold...Me!
