Thats probably our own fault for making eid soo boring. You reap what you sow.

one of the topics on here

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...

Paid for a gold and green Eid suit today; gold and green earrings and a pair of expensive, flash, gold stilettos.

Took out some money for a qurbani, calculated how much it’d cost to give Eid money to about 13kids (cousins) and put aside some money for a Eid party that I’m throwing for the girls from my study circle.

This is going to be one expensive Eid :?

No xmas shopping for me this year.

Awww, may Allah reward your efforts ameen I-m so happy

Apparently its Eid on Wednesday 19th...I hope not, cos I'm in work that day. :?

If it is, our work place is in for a shock. Our last day is the 19th. No one bothered booking any holidays as we have almost three weeks off after 19th...

I'm throwing two parties tomorrow - a christmas party with my class, with food, presents, music and games...and then straight after school a Eid party with my study circle girls - with nasheeds, more food, games, presents and dressing up.

The only difference between the two parties will be the choice in music and clothes.

I'm surprised that having one foot in the east and one in the west doesnt confuse me anymore...

My re teacher had a minature christmas tree, for a joke i pretended to get really upset and said why cant it be an eid tree. Then half an hour later someone said nice xmas tree mis i said No! its a multi-faith tree for a joke, someone else replied saying no its a xmas tree it CANT BE A EID TREE OR ANY THING ELSE, my reply silence which is the best reply to a fool.

Alot of folk in Oldham are doing it on Wednesday, ive heard some from Rochdale are doing it on Friday.

Ive just come back from a Christmas Party... the surprising thing was only 2 of the people there were Christians all the rest were muslims. lol.

Oh well, it was at Nawaabs and I got a free meal out of it. So who cares.

i do, but not really.
the moon is about 13% complete i would say, meaning it is an 1/8 and an 1/8th of of 30 would be 3.75 so its about 4 days old.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...

Since this eid is on the tenth of a month... we should know when it is ten days in advance.

And by my counting we have less than ten days for eid. What gives?

OH SUGAR EID IS IN A COUPLE OF DAYS I NEED 2 SORT OUT MY CLOTHES.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...

why the commotion with when Eid is? Whether you celebrate it on wed, thur or fri or all 3 days (like me lol) its Eid either way.

Actually scratch that, they've announced Eid to be on Thursday.

Because I have not got Wednesday off. If I take Wednesday off, I lose 5 days pay.

So, after much deliberation I declare Eid to be on Not Wednesday.

I'm with you on that. I'm working Wednesday.

How come you'll lose 5 days pay Admin?

I lose Wednesday (1) and since that is the last day of work, I lose all bank holidays (+3) and drapers day (+1).

I think EVERYONE shouldn't be worrying so much as to when Eid is, thats just for celebration and attending Eid prayer is a sunnah, not fard.

The most important day to worry about is the Day of Arafat. There is an authentic hadith that says if you fast that day you get forgiven for all your sins from the previous year and the coming year (minor sins, not major sins btw). Isn't forgiveness from Allah (swt) more important than dressing up and having a nice time???

Saudi's are saying Arafat is Tuesday. VERY important to FAST, insha'Allah

Don't just do something! Stand there.

However it is wajib according to the Hanafi school.

Whats going to be weird for us this year (again) - is whilst my family will be fasting on Wednesday - we'll have people celebrating Eid, coming to visit us all dressed up and looking to eat/share food.

I'll have to make sure I 'celebrate' Eid over the days so that no one gets missed out....

when day are you having Eid on csuae im having it on wednesday like most people are doing.

Some people are doing it on Wednesday. Some people are doing it on Thursday - generally speaking though, more people from the south are doing it on Wednesday whilst more people from the North are doing it on Thursday.

I have family in b'ham and Manchester, I'll be doing it with them on Thursday.

the brelvi masjids are doing it on thursday and the wobs on wednesday, cant say im surprised. one thing i dont understand, the day of arafat is tomorrow, so why are people going to be fasting on wednesday? my family are fasting tomorrow.

Your right - moon sighting is different issue. But people should fast the day the hajji's are standing on Arafat.

its a shame that we cant all do eid together, have we ever done eid on the same day?

college has given us wednesday and thursday of, or thursday or friday Biggrin

oh yeah, everyone, do please remember the converts on eid.
