IVF age limit 'should be raised to 42'

Women in their early 40s should be given access to IVF on the NHS, draft guidelines for England and Wales recommend.

NICE says the current age limit of 39 should be raised to 42 for women who have no other chance of conceiving.

The draft, which updates 2004 guidance, suggests other new groups who should be eligible for treatment.

They include same-sex couples and people facing cancer treatment who wish to preserve their fertility

The murder of Shafilea Ahmed

(not using the other topic as the author is using it for political purposes)

I was just on this murder trial where Shafilia Ahmed's parents are in the dock for murdering their daughter.

The star witness is another daughter who saw them kill her.

Truly shocking stuff.

She was only 17 when she was brutally murdered by her own parents.

Prosecutor Andrew Edis earlier told the court Ms Ahmed had seen her mother and father force a bag into Shafilea's mouth and suffocate her in September 2003.

Muslim parents kill daughter for being too westernised

The parents of Cheshire schoolgirl Shafilea Ahmed, the victim of a so-called honour killing, have been charged with her murder.

The sister of the Cheshire schoolgirl who went missing in 2003 saw their parents kill her, a court has heard.

At the start of their trial at Chester Crown Court, the jury heard Alesha Ahmed witnessed the killing.

Mr Edis said she drank bleach on the trip as her parents tried to bully her into an arranged marriage.

"She was a thoroughly Westernised young British girl of Pakistani origin. Her parents had standards which she was reluctant to follow."

The court heard Shafilea was taken to Pakistan by her family in 2003 in an attempt to force her into a marriage

US war veterans tossing medals back at Nato was a heroic act

Monday 21 May 2012

Nato summit leaders should have been forced to watch the moving protest of the former troops chucking their medals away

"No amount of medals, ribbons, or flags can cover the amount of human suffering caused by this war."

"I have only one word, and it is shame."

"This is for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan."

"Mostly, I'm sorry. I'm sorry to all of you. I am sorry…"

David Cameron denies parenting classes 'nanny state'

Describing vouchers for parenting classes in England as a "nanny state" policy is "nonsense", David Cameron has said.

In three trial areas, those with children aged up to five can get a £100 voucher towards parenting classes.

The PM has also announced a new NHS online information service for parents of very young children.
