Tony Blair has said educating children in their faith is “consistent” with a muti-religious society.

However, Barry Sheerman who chairs the common education questioned the idea of a “ghettoised” system.

Iraq's government says it has begun an investigation into the alleged abuse of more than 170 detainees held by Iraqi security forces in Baghdad.

The prisoners, many malnourished and some showing signs of torture, were found when US troops took control of an interior ministry building on Sunday.

The US raid followed repeated enquiries by the parents of a missing teenager.

Iraq's prime minister has promised to find those responsible for any abuse. Most of those held were Sunnis.

The allegations are a deep embarrassment for the Iraqi government, says the BBC's Caroline Hawley in Baghdad.

Anyone seen the taj mahal?

Whats its full history, what do you think about it.

Do you think it was a waste of money, an empty gesture or is it full of meaning?

[quote]Taj Mahal stands on the bank of River Yamuna, which otherwise serves as a wide moat defending the Great Red Fort of Agra, the center of the Mughal emperors until they moved their capital to Delhi in 1637. It was built by the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan in 1631 in memory of his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, a Muslim Persian princess.
