I heard his nasheed for the first time on islam channed on saturday, i think he has a nice voice.....why dont u like him?

Dave nasheed artists refers to those who sing praise for Allah (swt) and the Holy Prophet (saw).

I thought he ws nothing out of the ordinary.

I could have mistaken him for some other nasheed artist.

I thought music wasn't allowed...

So isn't that sorta analagous to toasting Muhammad with some Claret?

Some forms of music are not allowed.

Namely lude music/music that takes you away from your duties.

Singing is allowed aslong as its not seductive.

Some instruments are allowed.

Some are not.

Some are disputed.

I dunno.

I heard people say string instruments are not allowed... I do not know the validity of this claim, nor why it may be banned...

Drums are for military use, so some dislike them top be used for entertainment...

The one everyone agrees on being allowed is tambourine.

So admin how come u didnt go (apart from hating big gatherings) you should have been there doin your bit for revival...did u hear anythin from Ed, how did the revival stall do?

No idea how it went.

I went to the Unity one in manchester. More than enough for me for a good few years.

I had forgotten how pointless I find such things.

It is pointless if you go with that frame of mind, maybe ppl wont understand bout unity but they might just get understanding about Islam which can change their way of thinkin...if u snooze u lose (that wasnt meant for you)

It was an event about unity-which, from what little I saw, was far from it.

They kinda did right in taking it off air in my opinion.

I went yesterday and it was well good. i stayed in the nasheed section mostly coz my brother was performing. if ne1 went did they see him his name is mahdud choudhury n he sang bout mothers, it was so good that it actually made most of the mothers in the audience cry. i aint bragging but it felt so good watchin him n knowin that i can say his my bro. I missed zakir naikz speech coz i ad 2 go n der was technical problem Sad . also brother dash was sooooooooooooooo good, his poems wer inspirin n brought a good feelin Biggrin . kamal uddin rocked Blum 3 n so did all the other nashed artists.

It was a tiring day…SO many people where there, I think there were approx 25,000 present.

I got there around 12.00 and was helping out on the Revival stall till about 6.00. First I walked around the stalls getting sisters to answer some questions and gave out some magazines. But there were waay too many people present…I dropped what I was holding a few times. So, for the rest of the day I just stood on the stall.

Some girls had heard of the Revival some didn’t, some REALLY liked it, some were indifferent towards it, some really wanted to get involved and some didn’t…

But every girl I spoke to that day was so sweet and friendly.

In the morning I was full of energy and stopped every girl that went passed me with a “Aslam alaikum sister, would you like a free magazine for the youth… It tackles the issues facing the youth… 15,000 copies are distributed free…etc etc etc”….and by 5.30pm, it was just “Excuse me-u wanna free mag?”….My legs and back was aching from standing up so much (I’ am SO unfit).

I met the people on the MPAC stall, they were all so friendly. They were nothing like the aggressive, in your face type people they come across as on TV and radio’s….I sort of know the main people behind MPAC cos they are very good friends of my family…I felt obliged to tell them that I will start attending their events, only cos they were so nice.

By 6.00 I finally sat down in the conference. I heard Imran Khans speech, he spoke about conspiracy theories regarding 9/11…I heard George Galloway speak, he started his speech with “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim”…The crowd went crazy, he received so many “Takbirs”…he is a dynamic speaker. He was saying that if the government decided to invade Iran etc we’re going to start rioting in this country…I heard some Nasheed’s… Dr Zakir Naik (boy is he popular) was saved till the end…he was speaking about Islam and Unity….I only heard half his speech cos by 8.15 we were ready to go home.

According to mum (who heard every speech that day). The best speech was of Salma Yaqoob and Yvonne Ridely (she spoke about speaking out for the ‘speechless’).

Dad picked us up by around 8.30…I was starving (even though I was nibbling on the food ‘Ed and co brought throughout the day)…we stopped somewhere to eat and I was home by 9.30.

I rate Islam Channel for bringing 25,000 Muslims under one roof. Did I gain more knowledge..? Not really, I don’t think huge conferences are the place to gain knowledge-it’s too chaotic. But it was good event, it was nice meeting the Revival team and I’m glad I went.

p.s Irfan the “missing children” announcements made me laugh too. Once a guy made an announcement on the mike for “Amir, who is 13 month to please come to S5 where his mummy is waiting for him”…(I doubt a 13month baby can understand such announcements).

But rest assured all babies/children were reunited with their parents that day.

..Wasalaam

i went to the revival bit but all there was only a poster there wid two sistaz standin there, aww bless all them kids that got lost it mustv been so scary for them n their parents

Yeah the most essential thing you need to take too this sort of event is parcetomal and i not lying, normally my cousin take two packets and he gives them all out as stranger come up too us and ask for them when they see us taking them.

Were you lot giving the new mag out or the old one?

I found it impossible to take anything in on these day, but it nice seeing so many muslims coming together for a common purpose and when you have the like of Galloway, Yvonne and Zakir Naik, you know some muslims there would feel inspired to practice islam more.

Also, the lost children, some seem awfully brave too me, i could imagine after the first couple, some of the parent saying go on son go there and pretend you lost and get urself on TV. Because some seem to love the attention

Yeah, I should have brought food and paracetamol with me- I didnt think.. I thought I'd buy stuff from there if I needed anything..the queues were way too long.

We gave out the old mags - the last three issues.

It was a nice social gathering. Seeing thousands of Muslims under one roof was inspiring. The last time I was overwhemled with such a huge crowd was during Hajj.

..lol-I doubt kids pretended to be lost just to have their name mentioned on TV.

it was an extremely busy day, very tiring (not helped by the fact i didnt sleep), but it was worth it

we got there a lil late, walked in without gettin passes (showed them the passes i made - they worked everywhere Lol ) ...shouldnt have bought a ticket...

anyway didnt get a chance to listen to any of the talks........was with the Ed all day at our stall

not only did we give out all 3 issues, but we also got people interested in the revival, distributers....subcscribers.....and quite a few more on the Editorial team Inshallah Biggrin

was a fun day out, our Revival spokesperson ACTUALLY managed to talk all the way to london and back (8 hours total)....no chance of a rest after a long day!!

Would like to thank MuslimSister for her hard work and helping out - the quesstionnaoires wouuldnt have got filled if it werent for you

LOL I always did think she would make a good revival mascot, it look like there potential for her.

So how well was the event organised, was there adequate prayer facilities, was food cater for well, did it run it programme on time.

it was organised n most of it was on time but i think if there wer any l8 starters then its due to technical probz n dat.

the food was ok accordin to my fam n m8z but didn av nethin coz da ques wer jus woah so cudn b bothrd to line up

overall the conference was a success to me n found it reli good for my own personal reasons n some speeches touched me n in ways helped me to think mre positively bout things which im diverted from in islam n hope Allah givz all those responsible for such a nice event great rewards for all their hard work

DONT make fun outta me hayder

I've never hid the fact that in real life I'm EXTREMLY shy, quiet, moody and anti social

I just cant talk to people-boys AND girls

my sister was MORE shy then me when she was my age-No joke. But doing speeches, study circles, and her teacher training has boosted her confidence

I only really open up to my sisters and my cousin.

I TOLD u that I'm happier working behind the scenes.

even when guests come to our house-it usually me who makes the tea etc whilst my sister just smiles and serves it-cos I dont like meeting people

anyway-the event was TIRING...I regret going. It was too long, too HOT (I shouldnt have worn a coat) and TOO many people were there

I spent my day eating jelly sweets and candy floss-the queus for the food were WAY too long

I did buy some chips in the evening-they charged me £3.80 for some cold chips with ketchup

I gave out a few mags-only cos Mr Ed made me Biggrin

the prayer facility was badly organised-I read my prayer in one of the side rooms with my sister-

I didnt listen to any speeches-I spend the eving outside by the river where it was a LOT cooler with lil sis

the highlight of the day was when dad took us out to a heavy chinese restuarant after he picked us up

btw it was nice seeing u guys-ur all exactly like u are in the forum

I can be exactly teh same as lilsis sometime, I remember at the Manchester Unity conference, i saw all the Revival team there on about 20 different occasions and I saw them struggling near the end as well, but I on purpose avoided them, don't ask me why.

So who would go too another one of these event. I actually been put off them after thinking they where the best thing since slice bread after i attended the first couple. You can't take nothing in and at time it seem a money making scheme because they normally charge you much more then they normally should, that includes all the stall holders as well.

But I guess it a good occasion to propgate islam I guess, because on what other occasion could u get 22000 people coming too listen to islamic talks, something i couldn't have imagine 3-5 years ago ever happening here in England.
