I know you'd "prefer your version" but that aint an accurate reflection of reality for me. As no man (or woman) can go thru life without tripping once in awhile. You bound to... thats how you learn.
Bcoz we humans are not born perfect or with experiences which is why we try new things... you may like it you may not like it. We sometimes take risks to achieve what we want sometimes these risks pay off other times they dont.
Live and learn. Trip and fall then get back up again.
Theres more to life than watching other people live it.
It is Gods custom with His Friends that if they dwell upon what is other than Him or give their attention to something else or make room for anything else in their hearts…He will put disorder in their life.
Thus when Prophet Adam (AS) considered immortality in Paradise, God drove him away from His nearness…when Prophet Yusuf (AS) was in prison for a crime he didn’t commit and told the prisoners who were about to be released to mention his name in the court of their King…Allah (swt) did not like the fact that Yusuf (AS) diverted his attention from Him so He made them forget and he stayed in prison for a total of nine years.
Once Rabia al Adawiyyah (a saint) fell sick she was asked the reason behind her illness and she said “My heart looked towards Paradise, and He has reprimanded me for that”.
“If those who oppose Me knew how I watch over them, knew of My friendship towards them and My longing for them, they would abandon their disobedience and would die out of longing for Me.
O Dawud, if this is My wish for people who oppose Me, what then shall be My wish for those who turn to Me?
On the topic of sufism. It has been made a lot easier for us to follow the sufi path due to sufi silsila's or tariqa's or paths.
There are 4 major paths, which are the Qadri, Naqshbandi, Chishti, and Soharvardi. these are the main ones, but there are many others which are linked to these 4, ~E.G we have the Alawi's, Shahdili etc.
When one want to learn the path, they go to a murshid, who learnt one of the paths, and was given secrets to all, and this Murshid initiates you into the path. Once initiated you are told to follow sunnah, pray salah 5 times a day on time, etc. You are told to become strong in the basics, n then you are givin a wazifa or rukiya etc. It is a special practise of that particular Tariqa, like reciting certain verses of Quran a certain number of times, or reciting certain attributes of Allah certain amount of time etc.
So, who knows more about these tariqas, and who is actually a part of one?

Shaykh Nazim in particular which I know of. They studied under 4 different Shaykhs before actually going to Shaykh Abdullah Feizi Ad-Daghestani. exactly - why do people make 'sufiism' into a sect of its own? i dont geddit. all the things mentioned in this thread, about perfecting oneself on the inside, reflecting on one's deeds, improving one's connection with Allah and increasing their love for the Deen - these things are all about being Muslim. the Prophet (s.a.w) exemplified all these things and preached them without having to give them a section of their own.
why are we so obsessed with making sects and dividing ourselves like this. i think 'sufis' would further their cause much better if they projected these things as being an inherent and important part of Islam itself, as opposed to a sect of its own.
