[Call for Nominations] Muslim Personality of 2008

Salaams people.

Another stalwart of the old days.

But instead of having a poll straight away, maybe we should get nominations of who gets onto the poll itself. Mainly because I have no idea who did what this year and cannot think of a single name.

So, go ahead and suggest people that have done something extraordinary this year (its not a lifetime achievement award) and then maybe in a few days we can have a properly publicised poll on the site that can run for a set period of time.

Giving a short para or two as for the reason would be most helpful.

What about Ajmal Masroor? He's been on quite a few documentaries, representing Islam, he's even running for the BEthnal Bow and Green seat at the next election as a Lib Dem candidate.

Or we can have Anas Al Tikriti- He was one of the leading Gaza portestors.

Or What about the one and only George Galloway?

If we can get to 5 (with write ups of what they in the past year), that would be a very good idea IMO.

You suggested three. Ya'qub suggested Fethullah Gullen and I suggested GWB. THat adds upto.. 5!

Maybe add the PM of turkey? for not getting banned and imprisoned? For trying to allow women in his country to wear the headscarf? For trying to promote peace? and then after the year is finished, for getting angry at DAVOS?

Once we have a write up (Ya'qub, you reading?) maybe send an email to all the people on the announcements mailing list too.
