Women are not obliged to cover their hair in front of their mahram - father, brother, son, maternal and paternal uncles, grandfathers/grandsons, nephews, obviously husbands... and i've missed someone out, someone remind me!
Could you please provide us with some authentic, valid text relating to the views you are expressing please? Thank you.

I'm not sure that Muhammad Ali Nasir is aware that writing in capitals is considered shouting.
Muhammad Ali Nasir if you write all your text in capital letters, then in forums that means you are shouting. I hope the issue is clear.

i know a lady who's a scholar-an alimah
she's my sisters very close mate
that lady's husband is ALSO a scholar
they both very knowldgebale
this Ramadan that lady will be SPEAKING in radio Ramadan
if she held the same caveman views as you-she wouldnt do it
when the Prophet (pbuh) arrived in medinah children, and WOMEN-young and old sang naats to him-to welcome his arrival
he didnt tell them that a woman's voice shoud remain in pardah
nor did he tell them to "go home"
cos luckily the Prophet (pbuh) of Islam wasnt backwards like you

the childrena and young girls sang.
The verses of hijab were not revealed at that time so the issue of hijab does not come into the singing and its subsequent permissibilty/impermissibilty.
Cant use examples which are not even relevant to the discussion.
And the "hijaab" point is irrelevent cos a womens voice aint even required to be in in "pardah".
so dont bring in points which are irrelevent to the discussion
Submitted by Medarris on 14 September, 2005 - 12:20 #108
even if women sang thats got nothing to do with the topic in hand. The topic being discussed is what it means about hijab and what is included in the cover.
I dont agree totally with Muhammad Ali Nasir but merely as an objective point it is clear that you cant use the singing at the time of arrival becuase it is prior to hijab. Its got no relevance to the discussion. The people who came out were not observing hijab does that mean it can be used to argue that hijab is not necessary? No because the incident took place BEFORE the verses were revealed.
On a pure academic point the arrival incident has no relevance to the issue at hand.
Submitted by Medarris on 14 September, 2005 - 12:35 #110
Im not talking about womens voice being part of her awrah. I havent mentioned anything about this save to say that there exists a difference of opinion. I refer you to Muhtarama Yashmakis post above where she makes clear that there does exist a difference of opinion.
Again I have not mentioned anything about women and their voices.
I only posted to say that your example of the singing is not relevant.
Your post about Hadrat Maa Aisha radhiyallahu anha teaching is a valid post because it is concerned with event AFTER the verses of hijab. Thats all my point was, nothing to do with what is the status of the female voice.

I dont agree with what he has written totally.
But I didnt type here to get into peoples little debates about the voice.
My only purpose was to point out that academically the point regarding arrival and the singing wsa not relevant. I have said that and dont have anything further to add, save according to us it was children and young girls who sang with the women ululating?
