If you think of the archetypal Brit pre war they were polite, well dressed, honourable, honest to a fault, respectfull of others and others belonging, loyal, restrained, devout and family oriented...
Good characteristics to have... very humanitarian.
The britz also had some downsides but I guess this is not the topic for that!
oh and welcome.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
i have to agree with many points made in the forum and sadly i have to say that many times i have thought about one day moving to a muslim country or at least somewhere quieter and less corrupting.
This country has many temptations, they are the temptations of the Dunya which we all experience, whether in a Muslim country or not, but here it is in your face constantly.I too am tired of this place being like it is as are most of the British non-muslim population.
The rulers of this country are out of control, the democracy we have here is a limited control, we can choose which elite we want in power, thats it, the ideals of Democracy and Democratic ethics are honourable and admirable,i cant help feel that this country's dedication to such things has slipped, especially in foreign policy and on human rights, the legal system in this country is under assault by government created legislation which means that no matter who you are if they suspect you they can basically own you.
The police eye us with suspicion, and i could not describe to you the look i got from a police officer when i left a central london mosque when i was in the city for a job interview, a look can say more than police regulations can restrain. The police here try to battle symptoms rather than trying to address causes.Muslim youth are angry? not willing to 'integrate'?...well when that means keeping quiet when injustice is being done not just against muslims, from the minor to the major then so be it, ill continue to feel the hurt.
The police and government here are out of countrol, this is meant to be a Democracy, demos being people in Greek...for me the options i see are either be part of the solution and make that my Jihad, or leave and make that my Hijra...sad ways for sad days
lol, yeah i agree the brits had some MAJOR downsides, imperialistic nature etc lol...the British Government and military have done some appauling things in history...it is a pity most british people dont know their history or they would understand why they are disliked so much and might actually be able to start trying to make up for it

I doubt there is anywhere on earth where you can avoid temptation. Different things in different places with different amounts of publicity to them.
Look at Turkey - predominantly Muslim country where women are still fighting to be allowed to cover their hair when in public roles!

very true, temptation is part of life...doesnt matter how much you try to deter or hide a temptation(e.g, coving, laws etc) we have to remember that temptation is within us and its up to us to fight it, thats the most important thing, having the intention to resist

very interesting insight there brother, jazakallah for that!
i agree with much of what you say, esp about these characteristics now being common with Britain, but as you mentioned, previous centuries...the Brit way was very diferent - more in line with Islam than it currently is
however, i do think your being a bit too heavy on the criticism of the police and govt? i Hear what your saying, and acknowledge that they get many things wrong, and i feel pain when i hear about the many miscarriages of justice and the innocent suffering at their hands
however, they also do a good job, and have their work cut out
and without much help from the muslim community, its a bit unfair to blame the forces so much

I know an Indonesian aunty who came to Britain in the 70s and when she first came she said that Britain has Islam but no Muslims.
Now she says there are Muslims but no Islam.
While I think that's quite harsh, I agree that there are some REALLY nasty elements in society, many people are selfish beyond belief.
A guy at work (who is actually really nice) was asking me if I give money to charity. I said yeah, and explained how it was an obligation. Plus I asked how he would feel if he was in need; wouldn't he want others to help him in that situation.
His answer was 'yeah, but i'm NOT in need.' Basically he was aying that he didn't owe anybody anything and he was entitled to everything he could get.
I am quite horrorfied by a total lack of caring about other human beings.

Some people care more about animals than humans!
There was a programme where this guy was raising money for two charities. One was for homeless people and the other for dogs in need (or something similar) and more people donated towards the animal charity.

hey.. in pk villages they rub cow dung on the walls.. thats yuckyy!
lol they dont rub it. They mix hay into so that it becomes a bit harder coz otherwise the cow dung is really soft and doesnt stick together. You then roll it into a ball and roll it out and make a round circle and slap it onto the wall. The sun then comes and drys it. You then peel it off and use it to make a fire. It also makes good fertiliser for the crops.
I dont think they do it anymore coz gas cookers have finally come into existent.
oh ryt haha.. yeh i saw sum of them sticky thingys on the wall in pk so i tuk loads of pix and showd my friends wen i got back home lol... they thought it was funni lol.. i didnt seem 2 see the humour init lol
