omark bakri then being ridiculed on radio lol

everyone calling for arrests - which i agree with to an extent - only if its actually breaking laws, not jus coz of the frenzy its causing

radio were discussin, is Britain too tolerant?

most listeners thought yes it is

too me....that means....were too easy going on these muslims, we need to clamp down on them.

in my opinion, we are like any society. a lot of good within us, but the minority who are bad get all the publicity

i dont knw what im goin on about now!

adios

Yeah u could see me on the Sky news and Channel 4 news one, my tall mate block the camera view for me so didn't get on the BBC one Sad

But yeah, it was a big over reaction from the media, I feel sorry for the bloke, he just came out from serving time in prison. But it sad now the information is out and he got arrested as well, because he was one of the people who came out of late and had change and generally was a better person, he was doing a building course to get new skills so he could move forward. What he done was stupid, but not malicious. He was at least man enough to apologies unlike the Denmark news paper. But it means nothing.

i seen a bearded big funny lookin geeza in the Metro....i thawt it was you Lol

its true, he probably does regret what he did - but it was stupid. and that did a lot of harm for the image of muslims, and it will be percieved as promoting terrorism and terrorist activities, can you blame them if they charge him?

no offence to the guy, but any normal person would know dressin up as a suicide bomber in london is ......no better word than, stupid

and ur right, apologies wont mean anything - partly because certain people dont care nor do they want to hear it. they will ask for him to be sentenced

He did, he also knew he made a mistake by only speaking to the papers the day before, but he did make a unreserved apology and that did include the british muslims.

But let get something correct here, he wasn't even dress as a suicide bomber, it was a assualt vest which is common dress and widely available in shops, he was dress up miltary basically. It just shows u what teh press can do. His brother was just on Islam Channel and my unclle mate is also there on the agneda show and they are doing a good job of showing the double standard the press has done.

Asaallamu Allaikum,

I haven't read all of the comments on here but I have to say that I don't think that these cartoons are much if anything to do with "freedom of speech" they are at best naive and at worst purposefully provocational.

No sincere minded journalist would produce something as undeniably provocative and as directly insulting to Allah (swt) The Prophet (saw), Islam and Muslims the world over out of a sense of gauging the depth of peoples right to free speech.

The one thing, to my mind that has been taboo and unreachable, in terms of direct insult, to most of those that do not wish to tolerate understand or believe in Islam, has been The Prophet Mohammed (saw).

This to me has been a deliberate attempt to poison minds of non Muslims and draw on the "fanaticism" of elements within Islam.

Some of the reaction in places around the world has been ridiculous. But without a reaction that emphasises the place that Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) has in the hearts of Muslims, how open would The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) have been to further insult?

( Wasn't that guy dressed as a "suicide bomber", protesting about insults to Islam a convicted drug dealer, out on licence - lets not talk about double standards. If he has Insh'Allah "turned his life around", he needs to keep turning).

cant deny the press's double standards - they have a hidden agenda

who would wear an assault vest normally, and especially at protests/riots calling for war on europe :?

Well let be honest if they didn't want people to wear a assault vest, don't put it on the market. Plus i see this outfit very common with the far right, so mnow the standard has been set, let hope they continue with the standard that they set.

When i said he turn his life around, i meant he put that part of his life behind him, or should we make him continue to pay for his action even after he repented for his action, that very muslim of us ain't it. The fact he was a crack dealer should not even come into it. What he done was mis inform and stupid but that it. But what has happen show you, what exactly does freedom of speech means. Because i been answering email all week regarding muslims not being able to accept Freedom of speech and how we can't handle this aspect in the west because of cartoon. But look at the reaction in this case, say it all IMO.

Protester is returned to prison

A demonstrator who imitated a suicide bomber in a Muslim protest over cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad has been recalled to prison.
Omar Khayam, 22, of Bedford, is a convicted drug dealer who was jailed in 2002 and released on licence last year after serving half his sentence.

He was arrested and recalled to prison for breaching the terms of his licence.

Khayam apologised for his "insensitive" protest on Monday.

A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said Khayam was arrested under the Criminal Justice Act 2003 at the request of the Home Office.

He was given five and a half years in prison in December 2002 for dealing cocaine and heroin.

Khayam apologised to those affected by the 7 July bombs, saying his protest was as "insensitive" as the cartoons.

Yuit was the very short one trying to get his head in the camera, yiu kow like he was literally jumping up and down to get a shot Wink

Its amazing how the media can change evrything around, yesterday they were saying 'Omar Khayam, student.....' now they are saying 'Omar Khayam, Convicted Drug dealer'.....im sorry but that has no relevance to this!

Were you wearing a silly blue hat by any chance?

Or were you the hatless chubby one?

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said the West’s publication of the Prophet Muhammad cartoons was an Israeli conspiracy motivated by anger over the victory of the militant Hamas group in the Palestinian elections last month. “The West condemns any denial of the Jewish holocaust, but it permits the insult of Islamic sanctities,” Khamenei said.

Agreed.

Every paper I picked up today had his past plastered all over the front pages.

It’s unnecessary and had NO link whatsoever to the get up he was stupid enough to wear to the protest.

The boy apologised, grovelled even…but the media is still not happy.

I am surprised though that, that was the only arrest. I think that those with the insensitive, extreme banners should have been reprimanded too.

It’s scary the way the public is responding to the foolish actions of these emotional Muslims…

If we face even more backlash we’ll have no one but ourselves to blame.

He was arrested because he breached a section on his license as he was still doing his sentence

apparently he was sentenced to 5 years in 2002 - somat like that

and released early on the grounds he wouldnt get into trouble

but he must have violated one of the conditions, and they can send him straight back without the need for a trial or anything

The Danish Newspaper had already publically stated that it would not have printed anti semitic cartoons, now we can expose that the Newspaper also refused to attack Christians! Jyllands-Posten, the Danish newspaper that first published the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad PBUH that have caused a storm of protest throughout the Islamic world, refused to run drawings lampooning Jesus Christ, it has emerged today.

The Danish daily turned down the cartoons of Christ three years ago, on the grounds that they could be offensive to readers and were not funny. In April 2003, Danish illustrator Christoffer Zieler submitted a series of unsolicited cartoons dealing with the resurrection of Christ to Jyllands-Posten.

It is absolutely right that Jews and Christians should be respected in this way - but are Muslims not also human beings worthy of equal respect? The lie about Muslims not being able to accept freedom of speech by Muslim-haters now lies in ruins. Muslims now demand answers!

I wonder what Tom and Jerry has to say about all this ?

I applaud their decision not to insult jews and christians.

I only take issue with their decision to insult muslims.
