There was another demo on Saturday that was called by HT and was civilised.

I was at my mums house in the weekend managed to catch the tv news. I was so shocked to see the danish embassy on fire. It's crazy. Ppl getting taken to the hospital, coz their own stupidity has put them there. These ppl shouldn't be offered any medical assistance.
I can understand their anger but it's no justification for such violence.
The London demo was discussed this morn on radio five, apparently some mothers had their babies dressed in clothing with threatening slogans, ppl with plackards calling for death? These muslims may be in the minority but they're receiving enough publicity to make the larger population of peace loving muslims look like nothing but a species of violent thugs. I was disgusted at the images i saw in the newspapers.
Ironically the independent now sees it fit to publish a multitude of caricatures of muslims in general, to highlight what exactly?, how inoffensive cartoons are? It demonstrates nothing but their ignorance. They had one of an Iranian leader, Jewish leader, Brit and American presidents, and asked muslims if this was offensive. They seem to forget there's a major difference between presidents and prophets? But then again how can you expect a society which largely follows no religion to understand the offense caused.
The rest of the paper had caricatures of muslims demonstrating in London. Expect more caricatures. The reckless behaviour of certain muslims has done nothing but stirred up the media, and they're just beginning to stick their oar in.
One of our neighbours has passed racial comments towards my husband. Thing is she's an old granny, so my hubby kept his cool. He asked her to speak calmly tell her what the problem was. She didn't wana know, said we have taken over the country? (how i don't have a dozen kids yet lol)I'm enraged, but she's old so i'm glad he didn't do anything stupid, like run away with her walking stick. She apologised the next day, but her real character has been revealed. Maybe i should expect more comments like this in the future.
Things seem so dismal right now, my husband and i are seriously thinking about leaving this country in a year for the sake of future children. Things will progressively get worse, can't see them getting better for muslims. Not that muslim countries are any more humane. A change of scenery would do good, and at least we would have no discrimination jus coz of the way we dress and live. More resources as far as islamic schooling goes for my kids. Gosh i feel so depressed, cheer me up lol

That is not fair. The apology says she's human and she's reflected and for all you know she's been thinking very seriously about it trying to break a lifelong prejudice. It would be gracious of you to take the apology humbly and gratefully, and then she can get about knowing she gets on with the young Muslim family. basically it is the type of nationalism that has been forbidden by the Prophat (saw).
It is a serious term IMO.
100 Please do not use it, as it implies Seema has not really thought about this subject herself, and is just supporting a mood because it is held by muslims.
thank you Admin i really didnt know what the word meant i took it to mean silly or something otherwise i wouldnt have taken it so lightly.
especially as i always state my own opinion.
I figured jingo means someone whose patriotism or loyalty guides their opinions more than any other factors. I would like to think there is a word for that. I didn't think it was such a strong insult. I just realised though, that I did use the word elsewhere refering to jihadi views. I must apologise to seema, who has been decent anyway. Very sorry seema.

but we do speak to all our neighbours, and get along with one in particular very well. This old lady keeps very much to herself, seems really stubborn aswell. But we have always been pleasant to her, so i don;t understand it i've never come across a person like her before.
Course we accepted her apology i won't treat her any differently and neither will my husband coz we don't hold petty grudges. It's not like she did something unforgiveable anyway.

I'm disgusted by the actions of the muslims in question, but arresting them doesn't seem like the best course of action, especially right now whilst emotions are running high, it could make things worse?

He didn’t get off scott free. He was arrested and put on trial and now faces a re-trial. The law should apply equally to all, so the donkey who dressed up like a suicide bomber deserves to face the consequences of his stupidity.
The police showed restraint by not pulling him out of the crowd at the time, but he should not get away with it.

Well Europe got itself into a fine mess. It was unbelievably childish and irresponsible to publish those drawings - under the guise of "testing free speech" when everybody knows it was just another facet of Europe's supposdely nonexistant rabid prejudism toward immigrants.
But that doesn't excuse the islamic world's indulgence in insanity. This is totally crazy - they burned the chilean embassy the other day because it was in the same damn building! Christian churches throughout the entire middle east are being harassed - in one case a seventh grade christian girl was killed by a car bombing in an Iraqi church (also killing the muslim couple next door), and a Catholic priest was shot by some Turkish fanatic; all because the mob is associating the cartoons with anything western, and anything western with anything Christian.
And I highly doubt the Christian minorities who are taking these attacks, or the Chileans, or still yet the completely innocent and unrelated officials at the Danish Embassy or workers in Danish industries who lost their jobs will ever recieve an apology for this ludicrous reaction.
Just like I believe freedom of speech allows you to create and publish prophet cartoons or "piss christ" (that's the title - don't edit it), people do have the right to boycott products to demonstrate their outrage. However just like there is a responsibility to use discretion when you exercise your free speech - so that you should know not to publish such trash, and you must use discretion when you exercise other rights as well - such as a boycott, which I do not see this mob doing whatsoever.
Hundreds of jobs have been cut in Denmark because of the boycott - from companies who had nothing to do with this Danish paper, and offered their own apologies just for... being Danish? In the vain hope that it would alleviate the reactionary mob attacks on their businesses.
What amazes me most is that now people are dying as a result of what amounts to a "he poked me" argument, because Europe is a bully and mob mentality appears to be engrained in the middle eastern mindset.
Responsibility - whered it go?

Iran paper plans Holocaust cartoons
Iran's largest selling newspaper has announced it is holding a contest on cartoons of the Holocaust in response to the publishing in European papers of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
"It will be an international cartoon contest about the Holocaust," Farid Mortazavi, the graphics editor for Hamshahri newspaper, which is published by Tehran's conservative-run municipality, said on Monday.
He said the plan was to turn the tables on the assertion that newspapers can print offensive material in the name of freedom of expression.
"The Western papers printed these sacrilegious cartoons on the pretext of freedom of expression, so let's see if they mean what they say and also print these Holocaust cartoons," he asserted.
Iran's fiercely anti-Israeli regime is supportive of so-called Holocaust revisionist historians, who maintain the systematic slaughter by the Nazis of mainland Europe's Jews as well as other groups during World War II has been either invented or exaggerated.
Systematic slaughter
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's hardline president, prompted international anger when he dismissed the systematic slaughter by the Nazis of mainland Europe's Jews as a "myth" used to justify the creation of Israel.
Mortazavi said Tuesday's edition of the paper will invite cartoonists to enter the competition, with "private individuals" offering gold coins to the best 12 artists - the same number of cartoons that appeared in the conservative Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
Last week the Iranian Foreign Ministry also invited Tony Blair, the British prime minister, to Tehran to take part in a planned conference on the Holocaust, even though the idea has been branded by Blair as "shocking, ridiculous, stupid".
Blair also said Ahmadinejad "should come and see the evidence of the Holocaust himself in the countries of Europe", to which Iran responded by saying it was willing to send a team of "independent investigators".
Yeah he from my area, me and my mates were standing behind him when he made his statement, was on TV and everything:) . I suppose dim-witted stupidity is not a criminal offence (yet) but he should have known his actions were provocative.
Maybe the outcry will teach him some sense.
Those fools with the placards should be arrested though.

No muslim ones here. Duno where to move. I've never been mad about london, small town girl and right now it just scares me, (at least i'm honest :D).

That is not fair. The apology says she's human and she's reflected and for all you know she's been thinking very seriously about it trying to break a lifelong prejudice. It would be gracious of you to take the apology humbly and gratefully, and then she can get about knowing she gets on with the young Muslim family. Inititally your husband could even have made it, and probably did, a pleasant conversation of great importance. I love those conversations.

i agree.

thank you Admin i really didnt know what the word meant i took it to mean silly or something otherwise i wouldnt have taken it so lightly.
especially as i always state my own opinion.
Whatever you do, know that I will always love you. Or else.
but we do speak to all our neighbours, and get along with one in particular very well.
The clown who dressed as a suicide bomber has now issued a grovelling apology in an attempt to avoid arrest and punishment.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4686410.stm
Hope he gets arrested.
Say they were arrested they'd be done for inciting terror, or racial hatred against the British ppl. Well by the same token why did the leader of the BNP party get off scott free, what was he inciting with his speeches and leaflets peace?
I'm disgusted by the actions of the muslims in question, but arresting them doesn't seem like the best course of action, especially right now whilst emotions are running high, it could make things worse?
That guy lives in my area, such an Idiot!
Silly me didnt even realise anything like this until i left home in the morning and saw our area bombarded with news channel stations
Yeah he from my area, me and my mates were standing behind him when he made his statement, was on TV and everything:) . I agree what he done was stupid, but he ain't a bad person, just got caught up with the moment. Unlike the people who was carry the placard, he didn't mean no harm and belong to no group. If i remember right Prince Harry was caught wearing a Nazi outfit and how many death did the nazis cause and at no time did people call for him to be arrested, all it was a inresponsible act and now he apologies i think it best to let it go personally. I think the media over reacted as well, there was like 30 cameramen and crew there and all the major stations.

Well that's incredibly stupid - but you're right Yuit, it's that feeding frenzy mob mentality. I think that's what we're seeing worldwide with all these embassy attacks and whatnot, people are using the cartoons as an excuse to go crazy and everybody gets worked up in the process.
Press is going to have a field day with that kid though, some people just don't have any common sense

I suppose dim-witted stupidity is not a criminal offence (yet) but he should have known his actions were provocative.
Maybe the outcry will teach him some sense.
Those fools with the placards should be arrested though.
