An estimated 5.5m British people live permanently abroad – almost one in 10 of the UK population. The emigration of British people has happened in cycles over 200 years. The trend is now rising again: some 2,000 British citizens moved permanently away from the UK every week in 2005.
Australia is the number one destination.
40% of Britons living abroad are professionals.
17.5% are retired.

Comment:
Even the native Brits whose ancestors lived in these shores for thousands of years have finally come to the same conclusion which Muslims came to back in the 50s and 60s that Britain is a morally bankrupt, crime ridden, and disgusting society. Hence the reason why these people in huge numbers are moving out of the UK.
People only think of themselves in the hedonistic pursuit of individual happiness regardless of the consequences upon their health and others in society. Drugs, alcohol consumption, sexually transmitted diseases, illegitimate kids, single parents, neglect of the elderly, racism, wanton violence etc is always on the increase from year to year.
We as Muslims living in this society have been affected by many of these illnesses, although on a micro level, thank god.
The reasons for such animalistic behaviour are due to the system of ruling in this country. A System which protects the freedom of people to behave as they wish and denies the existence of a creator and the afterlife, hence this life is all that matters.
Non-Muslims ask us to integrate and become part of their society, in other words become like them. No Muslim will heed this call; even the most messed up ones Islamically will reject such a call and wish to bring up their children to be good practicing Muslims.
Showkat,
The reason people move is typically either professional opportunities or retirement to warmer climes. How this leads you to vilify British culture is beyond me.
Additionally you should understand that the call to integrate is a call to respect and contribute to British culture and if you see its imperfections, not to respond with extreme vilification and holier-than-thou abuse. People who cannot do that would indeed be better-loved elsewhere.

Well it's always raining here, no wonder people leave for warmer climes. The exchange rate probably helps too.
How many left for antartica?
You so sure about that? I aint.

Yes i agree that people are moving out of the Uk for many reasons and quite a few are older people. From my discussions with some older English people who have told me that one of the reasons they are moving out of the UK is because society has changed since they were young.
It is now more individualistic than it has ever been and the problems i listed in my original post are on the increase. There is no sense of community or security nowadays. All of the problems stem from western culture and values, if it doesn't then please show me from what values these corrupt practices come from?
Muslims can never respect western culture or values because it contradicts Islam and is based upon Secularism.
Allah has created the whole world and as Muslims we can reside anywhere. If we cannot criticise and offer alternative solutions in a calm
and rational manner then what do u expect us to do? Also if u disagree then please present your case and we will listen to u.

Move somewhere hot, Showkat. If you were to respect the country you live in we'd talk.

i think most muslims have integrated more than enough. I personally don't see how white English ppl (for lack of a better word) have made attempts to integrate. I mean integration is supposed to be a two way thing isn't it?
I;ve adopted the language, when i feel like it the dress, certain values which don't contradict my own faith, i went through the school and work system. I am participating in this society. I am fully integrated. So when i hear the government continuously saying muslims must integrate i believe they mean i must discard of my religious identity, to fully assimilate. I don't believe they want integration from me. They want me to be exactly like them. Maybe i've got the wrong end of the stick but this is what many muslims feel like, hence they feel victimised.
Blair wasn't talking exclusively to you. In any event the examples you mention are a fairly shallow interpretation. I think Blair was talking more to Showkat, who shows nothing but contempt for what he has here.

So what parts of Blair's speech were aimed at people like Yashmaki?
You're the one who hates media snippets. Read it, Beast.

You label Yashmaki's example's as a "fairly shallow interpretation" of Blair's speech but infact Blair did talk about the things Yashmaki cited.
Where Yashmaki said "I've adopted the language," Blair said:
Where Yashmaki spoke about balancing religious faith with integration, Blair said "Being British carries rights. It also carries duties. And those duties take clear precedence over any cultural or religious practice." The duties Blair talked about were respecting the rules of law, respecting democracy, and freedom from violence and discrimination. Presumably Yashmaki and Blair are agreed that Islam does not contradict the duties singalled out by Blair. Therefore, Yashmaki did not use an example which was a "shallow interpretation" of the speech.
"Fairly shallow interpretation" was not intended as some kind of a dig at yashmaki. The focus of Blair's speech was overwhelmingly not about these issues but about people who migrate promoting disrespect for the country or malevolent intentions.

i heard Blairs speech live, and although i agree with much of what he said i think he's wrong to target the Muslim community as those who supposedly "disrespect" british values, and are unwilling to integrate. It's natural that he would focus on muslims coz of recent events, however it does nothing but expand upon ignorance about our faith, and create further hatred towards muslims unfairly.
There are plenty of ppl from other faiths who are just as averse to integrating and respecting British values. So it's completely unbalanced to target muslims. There are a small minority of muslims who disrespect the laws of this land, but most of us actually respect the laws because that's what our religion teaches us. Regardless of our religious values on a human level we do have morals believe it or not, and religion isn't a prerequisite for that.
