When I Grow Up I Want To….

Y u letting these western connotations of only suicide bombers being shaheed's get to you Bro?

Our Deen is set by Allah (swt) not these westerners so let them think what they wanna think and you just believe what the Hadith and Qur'an tell us that is only the way. I'm off home now so may Allah (swt) bless all. Ameen

I want to become a better Muslim by following the Prophet's (pbuh) sunna. I wish to further my knowledge on Islam and put it into practice in my daily life. And if I can be of any help/guidence then always willing to oblige.

oh zara the following are classed as being a shaheed:

1) Death by drowning.
2) Death due to a building falling upon him.
3) Death of a woman during pregnancy due to the child.
4) sudden death of a young person

Jabir ibn `Utayk reported that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:

"There are seven kinds of martyrs besides those killed in wars, defending the cause of Allah:
• A person who is killed in an epidemic
• A person who is drowned
• A person who has bedsores, causing fever and cough resulting in his death
• A person who dies of a stomach disease
• A person who dies in fire
• A person who dies under falling debris [in a disaster]
• A woman who dies during childbirth."

That's interesting... theoretically the Muslim Americans that died in 9/11 because of the destruction of the World Trade center are Shaheeds right?

And out of total curiosity why are these people considered martyrs? I can understand childbirth but bedsores and stomach diseases seems a might bit obscure

Adding to my original list..

When I grow up I want to be EXACTLY like my mum….if I manage to develop even a quarter of her patient, selfless and considerate nature and extreme high trust in God…I’d consider myself sorted.

Well if you don't consider yourself sorted right now then your mother must be a total Saint!

Seriously, I don't think I have ever seen you exhibit a vice at all here...

Vice is? :?

I've seen mum cope with all life has thrown at her, including losing her sight, family problems and recently the death of her mother - despite all thats life thrown at her - her trust and love in God is sky high...so in my eyes she is a Saint. Biggrin

"When I grow up I want to drown, have a building fall on me, die in childbirth, catch an epidemic or get a stomach disease, burn to death in a fire or have fatal bedsores."

Oh.

I am already a bit grown-up but I would like to improve my writing and have a successful career in the arts, marry and have children in the next few years and be a great husband and father, make some sense of world politics and develop strategies and agreements that help bring an end to unnatural suffering caused by conflict (unless someone beats me to it or we all die in a grand apocalypse), have resources at my disposal to be generous and benevolent and eat nice big breakfasts, live long and be a man of good character and integrity. I am imperfect (philosphical aside: I am the perfect 100man), still I regularly commit and make progress.

100man are ur engaged/have a g/f? - if not how comes marriage is on the cards?

No, just something I am turning my attention to.

I have always said that I was unready and would not mind waiting a few years. A few years down the line I am thinking the time is about right.

Biggrin

Sort of. Read my subsequent post.

The post you are quoting is a summary of what previous comments seem to be saying.

An immoral or crude habit or behavior... such as swearing or lying or things like that. lol, I think you've convinced me you're just a good person through and through.

Ah I see... strong woman, that is a lot to deal with. I'm sure you will be just like her someday.

I thought maybe a lot of your reflection on parents recently in your posts had something to do with the loss of your Grandmother... I hope you guys are all okay
