Raped Women Are Asking For It

Salam

Sheikh Hilali told his audience that women who get raped should not blame men.

This was his Eid message !!

The Sheikh said that the responsibility lies with girls if they get raped.

He claims that women being naked meat, they should expect to be eaten.

He simply does not want the boys to be blamed for any sexual assault on girls.

I think Hilali is crazy. He just wanted to have his say in the veil row.

First I've heard of this Shaykh.. who what where when did he appear from.

Yep his words were Harsh.. I've heard people say far worse things and havent had a fraction of the media attention this guy has had..

Its a stupid story, Omrows quotes and the ones in the media have been blown out of proportion and context in my opinion.

But for someone in his position.. he should have been more careful with his words.. He for one should know that Muslims do not have freedom of speech let alone freedom to diss women who show off their flesh.

Quote:
Sheik apologises for sexist comments

Australia's senior Muslim cleric Sheik Taj Aldin Alhilali has apologised for any offence caused by his comments that immodestly dressed women provoke sexual attacks.

The Australian newspaper reported today that, in a sermon delivered last month, Sheik Alhilali likened scantily clad women to uncovered meat eaten by animals.

"I unreservedly apologise to any woman who is offended by my comments," he said in a statement today.

"I had only intended to protect women's honour, something lost in The Australian presentation of my talk."

Sheik Alhilali has been widely condemned by Muslim and non Muslim groups for the Ramadan sermon he gave in Arabic to 500 worshippers in Sydney.

According to The Australian's translation, he said: "If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat," he said.

"The uncovered meat is the problem.

"If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab (Islamic headscarf which covers the hair neck and shoulders), no problem would have occurred."

But the mufti of Australia and New Zealand would not back away from his comments and said he was shocked by the way his sermon was interpreted.

"The Australian front page article reported selected comments from a talk presented one month ago," the sheik said.

"The title was 'Why men were mentioned before women for the crime of theft and woman (sic) before men for the sin of fornication'.

"I would like to unequivocally confirm that the presentation related to religious teachings on modesty and not to go to extremes in enticements, this does not condone rape, I condemn rape and reiterate that this is a capital crime.

"Women in our Australian society have the freedom and right to dress as they choose (while) the duty of man is to avert his glance or walk away.

"If a man falls from grace and commits fornication then if this was consensual, they would be both guilty, but if it was forced, then the man has committed a capital crime.

"Whether a man endorses or not, a particular form of dress, any form of harassment of women is unacceptable."

A spokesman for Sheik Alhilali said the backlash and criticism had badly affected him and he had been depressed and confined to bed all day, breathing with the assistance of an oxygen tank.

of course no one has a right to rape anyone...

let me pose a few questions- this is for everyone:

1. will men look at women more in a sexual and desireful way if they are :
a. dressed fully
b. half naked
c. completely naked

2. if women are walking around half naked, are they:
a. not inviting men to look at them?
b. not wanting to look sexy and sexual?
c. dressed like that FOR men, to impress them?

3. a man sees a woman dressed in a very sexy manner and is sexually aroused, can you blame him if :
a. it makes the man stare at her, chat her up
b. he ask her out, ask for her number a 100 times
c. he whistles at her
d. he comes on to her....

i dont want to go any further...
just trying to make a point...
DRESS CODE DOES MATTER... whether we like it or not...

this is a big issue but we cant talk about it much nowadays, cos if we do, we will be labelled sexist, extremist....

i would give the shaykh benefit of the doubt. his comments seem to have been misinterpreted. maybe he could have expressed himself differently though.

my brother could not believe this was on the 'front page' of the bbcnews website. they clearly just need some 'crazy muslim' story in order to meet the quota.

i agree with Ed to some extent. Allah has explained to us in the Quran that the islamic dress code for women is only there to safeguard their honour and prevent them from being harassed:

Quote:
O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their outergarments over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [33:59]

in my opinion one can never justify rape, regardless of how the victim was dressed. men are responsible for their own actions and they should get their just punishment, and more.

I NEVER WORE IT BECAUSE OF THE TALIBAN, MOTHER. I LIKE THE MODESTY AND PROTECTION IT AFFORDS ME FROM THE EYES OF MEN.

agree , agree, and again I agree!!! dress code does matter, but it's not 100% responsible for rape. Who's responsible in the other countries where women are covered?? Are you saying there ARE NO rape cases in the middle east?? Or are they just not being reported??

BUT WOMEN SHOULD DRESS MODESTLY. SIMPLY COZ, MEN LOOK AT THEM IN A DIFFERENT WAY THEN!

live and let live!!!!!!!

"*DUST*" wrote:

I agree, why do the biased media keep pointlessly misinterpreting what someone said by simply translating it into english word for word? Surely everyone knows that there is no other language as perfectly expressive as arabic. There is simply no equivelant in english, so don't even bother.

I think there should be a law against this. It's just another way to bash muslims and anyone who can't see this is just stupid.

girlz i agree with u that rape can never ever be justified,

a) thats no big deal, unless she tells him to go away
b) as long as she does not mind, he has a right to ask her a few tyms, after that he shud get the messege
c)no biggy
d)depends how he `comes on to her`,

wasalaam

it is sexist

it has "given" men the legitamacy to rape / sexually assult women simply coz of what they choose to where

if i can control my self, i know any guy can

he needs help if he can`t!!

"The best of people are those who live longest and excel in their deeds, whereas the worst of people are those who live longest and corrupt their deeds." [Tirmidhî, Sahîh]

btw u cant compare Jack straw to what this sexist scholer sed!!

jack merely asked for the niqab to be removed while sum1 was in his office,

this man is indirectly legitamising the "right" for men to rape / sexually assult women

there is a whole world of difference!!

this scholer desearves no respect for his caveman comments

lol i dont think even the cavemen were THAT backwards,

i cant beleive that ppl even merely `agree` with him

rape cases in muslim countries are astonishingly high

many girls look beautiful in a headscarf - sum look horrible without it

i find it mind boggling how anybody can beleive that outside is nearly as important inside

"The best of people are those who live longest and excel in their deeds, whereas the worst of people are those who live longest and corrupt their deeds." [Tirmidhî, Sahîh]

I think that by discussing us issues we are playing directly into the hands of the kafirs. We have the Qur'an,sunna of the Prophet (pbuh) and Sharia law to deal with any issues we may have. But because we are living in a western society we have to abide by thier laws (to an extent). However the kafir's are using our own deen to divide to create tension between Muslim. Tex seemed quite angry at the Mufti for his comments but I dont feel the Mufti is at Blame here. The kafir's have translated, mis-quoted and taken far out of context what the Mufti had intended to say.

My brothers and sisters these kafirs may look like they are on our side and doing whats best for us but thats exact;y were they are conning us. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing people he didn't exist! So follow the Qur'an and Sunnah that is what will benefit You both in this life and the next. Allah (swt) knows best. Biggrin

I want to become a better Muslim by following the Prophet's (pbuh) sunna. I wish to further my knowledge on Islam and put it into practice in my daily life. And if I can be of any help/guidence then always willing to oblige.

i agree but i cant stand it wen ppl use da strict dresscode to legitamise what perverts do

its backwards

and it is common and rampant in the muslim world

calm down tex.........I agree with you. Strict dress code does not prevent rape. Yes rape cases in muslim countries are high, where women follow THE DRESS CODE to a T! And yet many cases are are not even reported.

I can't believe people can even make comments like this. and the worst thing is when people start to agree with them!!

live and let live!!!!!!!

saima in cases like these i cant `calm down`

u have no idea how common this oppinion is

its backwards and harsh

How can they be reported? under what circumstances can a raped woman expect the rapist to be dealt with appropriately under sharia law? if you know the answer to this, then how can this possibly said to be justice or justifiable?

the shariah says rapists shud b put 2 death

ironically muslims have changed it to the punishment for the victim to be death, and the sympathy goes 2 da rapist "Bcoz it was not his folt he was `tempeted`"

in a civalised world that wud b da other way round

its gut-wrenching

Tex Im not aware of any Islamic state that prescribes the death penalty for the victim of rape...maybe you do so tell me please. The punishment for a rapist is capital. Allah forbid if it happened to any female in my family I know I'd want the perpertrator killed! Any1 want to disagree?

I'm just saying that rape should NEVER EVER be blamed on the woman's dress! Coz you will find sick men ANYWHERE! Be it saudi, where a woman is covered from head to toe, or at a beach in majorca!

In Muslim countries, such as Iran, if a woman accuses a man of rape then she must produce 4 witness (it is not very likely that someone will rape someone else in public) and as it is near impossible to produce 4 witnesses, the woman will be killed as it will be said that the woman had committed adultery. Don't know what happens to the man, I think it's about 60 lashes or something.
