Integrating into British society
Today Tony Blair said that it is we moderate muslims who have to root out extremism within our midst. Many muslims apparantly don't integrate enough.
I think integrating has limits and we should not cross that limit and go against Islam.
I mean that people should be able to read, write and speak English, they should be working and paying taxes, they should get along with other non muslims etc.
But i feel under no circumstances must we integrate to a level that goes against the teachings of Islam. Such as drinking, going clubbing, freely dating and fornicating, wearing next to nothing revealing youre body etc.
We still have the right to practice our religion and integrate into British society.
What do you guys think?

A caller made an intresting point on Islam Channel a couple of weeks back he said, the problem is not with the Muslims integrating with the British soeciety but the lack of integration between the muslims themselves.
What do you guyz think?
Do the Muslims in the west lack intergration amongst themselves?

I kinda agree with the caller. I was in the bookshop next to east london mosque and a brother started talking to me (he was a convert).
He was asking me why bangladeshi's stay with bangladeshi's, and why pakistani's stay with pakistani's, and why somalian's stay with somalian's, and we had a conversation from there.
So yeah I agree with the caller, we are not integrating with each other as muslims.
In my college the separation was so obvious. Asians stayed with asians, and blacks stayed with blacks, didn't matter if they were muslim or not.

But sumtimes its got to do with the lanauge barrier, like the oldies from most asian backgrounds dont know much english or ecah others language, so the most they can do is Smile!
Amongst the youth, they have know excuse, they shud try and get to know ther fellow muslims better and try to interct better with them.
Down our end, this isnt a massive problem, mostly every1 is always talking, interacting wid the others, but i will defntly agree wid the caller. It is a problem within the ummah.

[color=magenta]yeah iv seen, around tower hamlets the somalians n bengalis never meet, like the elder women will have tlks or study circles in their own language so the other felt like outcasts but i fink recently there was this tlk in english,its called muslim women awareness thng n alhamdulillah it was a massive success cuz there was no language barrier nice way for the community to get together[/color]
