Well... The title says it all.
.
Its of Rumsfeld delivering a speech in which he says the plane was shot down.
Now I understand if it was shot down (afterall you would not want it to hit another high-rise), but lying about it is what legitimises the conspiracy theorists.
Or is he saying something else, which is taken out of context? That is also a possibility due to the size of the clip...
He misspoke and retracted. I don't understand how people can cling to these absurd conspiracy theories when we have the cell phone calls and black box information of the people on the flight itself attesting to a hijacking.
The plane could have been hijacked but still shot down.
If I remember correctly Channel 4 News on September 11 said quite clearly that parts of the plane were found very far fromk each other 0 suggesting that the plane exploded mid air.
USAF could have relised that the fourth plane was heading for Washington so they decided to shoot it down before it got there.
They found a fan from one of the turbines 300 yards away from the crash site in the same trajectory as the plane.
USAF did not shoot down the plane, it was crashed by the terrorists. We have the black box recordings of them trying to keep the cockpit door closed while the passengers attempted to get in, they said a few prayers and set the plane into a dive.
Did anyone see the cctv clip of the 'plane' which crashed into the pentagon. Looked like a plane shaped missile to me. A plane would have been quite large but the object that hit the pentagon was tiny compared to a plane. Anyone have any doubts?
well the nose of a plane is conically shaped! (CCTV only takes pics after a regular interval. Those pics could not be used to conclude anything - one frame where you can just about see the tip of the nose, and the second with the building destroyed. and why would thye need to use missiles, when the twin towers had clearly been hit by planes? I say it was just a last attempt at closure that they showed the cctv images...)
Listening to that clip a few times now, I gotta say its not conclusive to say that that was what he meant. Heck if I heard it without the commentary on the side of him admitting to the plane being shot down, I would not pick up on his wording.

Anyone seen this video yet? Very interseting indeed

The US have lied so many times and I don't know what to believe anymore....abit like the boy who cried wolf.
The system which is supposed to send off fighter planes when a plane goes off-course wasn't working on 9/11....concidence?
What system are you talking about?
Planes deviate course all the time, especially at low altitudes in uncontrolled areas. You don't even need radio equipment for Class E and G airspace.
Quick everybody else who's licensed by the FAA raise their hands!!!
Didn't think so.
I think it's like a radar thing which the US military uses to make sure planes don't go off-course unexpectedly near tall buildings.
What's the FAA?
No. There is something called a 'no fly zone' over military bases, over government offices and over nuclear power plants - security risks.
There are also Military Operations Areas - way different story.
I fly over them all the time, most of the time they don't even radio you to tell you you're a jerk. Given it matters what you are flying over, I fly over a nuclear power plant a lot because it's cool going through the cooling tower exhaust. But airmen have flown over military bases before and been radiod to deviate course. No fighters were 'scrambled' just because they look like they were approaching the no fly zone.
In my FARAIM 2004 just like my FARAIM 2003 all the FAA says will happen for flying over a no fly zone is 1. You will have your license revoked, and 2. You will be fined.
No fly zones are monitered by whatever control tower controls that space - in the case of the WTC (and probably the pentagon) that means civilian air traffic controllers were at the helm. That means they primarily coordinate air traffic in the region and periodically remind people not to go into the No fly zone There isn't some secret bunker at an underground labratory that watches these areas ready to push the 'scramble' button like in the movies.

So you're an American pilot right.....how comes you spend so much time here or have you got a special laptop in your plane?
Now you got me interested.....do you fly commercial or private planes?
lol because I'm married and unemployed; I don't have a laptop but I just got a nifty avionics upgrade for one of my planes - it's incredible, full glass display including dopler weather reports ON THE SCREEN, no more annoying TAFS!
I'm not anywhere near commercial, I'm single engine IFR (instrument flight) half way through a multi engine with too little free time (or too much depending on how you look at it) to complete it. Besides nobody wants to fly commercial, no fun in it and it's gruesome work - worse than cargo.
I fly just for the hell of it, I have a bonanza and a Cessna
lol you've obviously never been to Washington. The entire city (including Arlington) is completely flat and densely populated. The Pentagon is basically on the outskirts of the most densely populated government area almost right on the potomac, you can see the Washinton monument and most of the other monuments from it.
What you are suggesting is kind of like sneaking a missile somewhere in Tower Hamlets.
Furthermore it's the pentagon, one of the largest (space) buildings on the face of the planet; talk about a conspicuous target.
Don't you think somebody might have... noticed a missile attack?
On the contrary we have eye witnesses reporting the attack on the Pentagon as a plane, we found the remains of passengers and crew there, we have phone calls from the passengers reporting their plane hijacked, there are pictures and eyewitnesses after the crash reporting the plane's remains there, and we have Al Qaeda leadership admitting they did it.
Ok.....you've convinced me
Cool!
Hey have you ever thought about flying?
I'm more into driving a vehicle on the road but wouldn't mind flying....as long as I've got a parachute on me lol
Isn't the lessons expensive and the website you gave me (FAA) I couldn't find any pilot schools in the UK
Well it can be pricey, to rent a plane and get an instructor for an hour it can range from 85-120 dollars depending on where you are and the price of Avgas, in total about 5-6000 for a single engine license VFR only.
There are finance programs available to lend you the money (some without interest).
But that's th United States, I dunno much about flight in the UK - I do know that Dubai has a really good flight training program for emirates airlines, and under the new Emir there are all kinds of scholarships for young Muslim men; I'll look into that I dunno much about it.
lol you race too then?
Isn't flight simulations just as good as the real thing?
I don't race but I do....ehem, you know what
lol well I think legally here in the states you can get a few hours on them, something like 2-3. Some like Microsoft are pretty good for just learning the technical stuff but frankly they aren't worth your time if you want to learn how to fly for real. It can't simulate things like wind changes, weight adjustments for heat and the perfect 3D glide slope.
Not to mention it's a hell of a lot different with your life on the line. Two memorable "landings" come to mind, one was with my instructor the second was on my first solo. When a plane lands you do something called"flaring" which basically means you change the angle at which your wings "attack" the air to something so unstable you cannot produce any more life - in essense you kinda crash the plane. but you're supposed to do this at like 6 feet off the ground.
Now people who are new to flying are sometimes a little nervous and flare before hand - it's that "I need to land NOW" syndrome. And they pull too early. Usually at around 11 feet or so - the landing sucks, lots of bouncing really uncomfortable, just pure crap.
I flared at 25 feet. lol my instructor had a bottle of water he was drinking before and wearing afterward, he was laughing like crazy the tower radioed to laugh (towers are actually pretty sarcastic crews) it was fabulous.
The next worst landing was for my solo - one of the things rookies need to worry about when you are landing is making damn sure that they are correcting for the wind when they land otherwise a perfectly reasonable landing will put you on the grass. The was you correct with with rudder and a little bit of aelerons but that also means one of your wheels will touch ground before the other. It's imperative that you correct for that as soon as you touch the ground otherwise you will spin all over the runway and look like a complete jackass.
lol I was pretty nervous on my solo and was in the process of congratulating myself for finishing my first landing (you do 3 touch and goes) when I realized I was on the ground and running off the runway to the right... rapidly. I freaked out and over corrected ended up getting this massive gust of wind at the same time I realized I still had a little power left in the engine and I took off in an uncontrolled semi takeoff, then fell back down and did that three more times, it's called dolphining.
Very embarassing - but I just got back in line for a runway and redid it no troubls.
but all that 'unpleasant' stuff doesn't show up in the games or simulators and really your ability to decide in those situations is what makes you a pilot.
I don't race but I do....ehem, you know what
lol oh I definitely know what you mean, what equipment are you on?
I believe its about £100.00 a lesson up around here to get lessons in a microlite. (I think you need ten for the basic license...)
I would love to, but I cannot afford that much.
Besides I think I should learn to drive before flying.

Very complicated stuff said and seems expensive so I think I'll stick to driving on the road.
What do you mean when you say 'equipment'....computer/car?
Admin I can't believe you can't drive.....how old are you?
If you pass your driving test finding a job wouldn't be so hard....I can imagine you as a delivery driver reading the sun and eating dougnuts
Now is that an ideal job or what?
Apart from the fact that The Sun is a crap paper. And I do not like doughnuts. Or driving.

I meant car, what kinda car - any afterstock modifications?? Details man details!
lol what the hell is a microlite?! I've never heard of that before... unless that's what we call an Ultralite here but those don't count as 'airplanes' it's a whole seperate license.
I dunno too much about this really... and I may have the name wrong, or I may be calling the wrong thing a microlite... it may be ultralight in yank-speek!
I was thinking about those small planes. Two seater I think.

I've got a Ford Fiesta Si and before anyone starts competing with me....I'm only 19 man and don't work. Considering I got 6 points on my license I'll wait until my points expire then it's a BMW M5 for me.....in my dreams lol. I haven't got any modifications...it's not worth it for the car I've got. Sorry for being dum but admin how do I get a pic to come up in my message?
