The weird and wonderful ways we eat food

There are many foods in this world and most of us have done some strange combination, some weird mix and match for various reasons; sometimes it's because that's all there was at home left, sometimes its because you were cooking with the lights off, other times it cld have been because it looked nice together!

whatever your reasons, wld you like to share those weird and wonderful foods you've created?

i'll start with a couple.

pasta, fish fingers and ketchup. mash up the fishfingers, sauce up ketchup and there you go! totally unhealthy, totally delish! in recent times we've taken to putting half ketchup, half mayo. i went to a friend's house and she'd done something similar, except there wasnt fish fingers, there was sweet potato and eggs and carrots i think.

numero due! laddoo with....BAGUETTE!! yes, yes, you have read this correctly. spread the laddoo like any other spreadable across the inside  of some baguette and dig in! the original recipe has a preliminary layer of butter. but that wld just be too  unhealthy *shakes head*

so please share those weird and wonderfuls!

Laddoo as in the round sweet thing?

I thought me having C&O walkers in my plain cheese sandwich was an odd combination until I read this post.

This is just beyond bizarre. Lilly is CRAZY! I hope i don't get put off food!

I often have pasta or rice (last nights leftovers) in a wrap or as a sandwich.

have you got weird and wonderful ways of eating weetabix?

what's your fav way of eating this bland yet strangely attractive food?

i have it with banana and date. never tried any other combination...

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

I've had weetabix with banana's and honey Smile

Okay, lets share one of mine. I came back from my evening classes and it was about 10.15, and i was really really tired and didn't know what i wanted to eat. So i decided to get a bowl out, GRATE an entire banana, add a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream, and then i grated white chocolate ontop of that. I thought it would turn out to be something nice and delicious. The look of it wasn't tempting, and if i didn't hurry up and gobble it down, the banana would've gone brown and even more sloppy. It was AWFUL. lol.

i think it was just the banana tha ruined it.. or the method in which you decided to section up the banana. grating it..ive been thinking abt it and according to my imagination it wld basically feel like (and probably look like) already chewed banana. it will also go all sticky and gooey, NOT improving its appearance or feel in the mouth.

i would just gag if i kept banana in my mouth too long. i dont remember ever doing that but i know that if i try to eat a banana fast i'd gag and i can imagine keeping a banana in my mouth long wld also lead to gagging.

if you'd cut up the banana in slices maybe, with the vanilla icecream it might have been very good.

the white chocolate now... seems extra... like, theres already too much white/yellow. plus white choc is very sweet. which may also lead to filling sick, especially alongside two other sweet things...

milk choc might habe worked better? or toffee, or strawberry thingy..that liquid stuff that goes on those icecream van icecreams?

or how abt a crunched up digestive?

did you gag at any point while eating your...abo..i mean invention?

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Oh no, you've reminded myself of it, and its so vivid in my head. Just look at the amount of times you've mentioned the word GAG! *facepalm* I think i DID get a bit sick, but on the other hand, i didn't want to waste this newly created invention. I normally do slice my banana's, but i was just feeling wierd and a little crazy, so i thought, why not?!

I do lovely stuff with ice cream. I've tried the biscuit crushin', i usually do that with cookies. Oooooh, you know what you should do, get a really nice apple, the red apple that is hard-ish but not the dark red apples. Cut them into really small pieces, add your ice cream, and then add strawberry sauce. THAT is DELICIOUS. I could eat it aaaal day!

I'm hungry and craving ice cream.

im not going to reread my analysis...

but while writing it  i did imagine apple with icecream. now that you're saying its nice..hmm...

I have only one more thing to say to finally close off this banana grating chapter of your life.

Oh wow, i love that quote <3

Not sure how weird this is because I'm not much a foodie and don't get very "adventurous", when it comes to eating/trying new stuff. But the other day I had a toasty with cheese and salsa sauce. Salsa sauce being the weird addition for me. I was going to add crisps, but I didn't like the thought of them possibly being hot and soggy.

Fish pakoras anyone?

Is it me or am i the only one who's ever heard of this variety of pakory

Nah you're not alone there, we have fish pokareh too Smile

Boiled eggs thrown into yellow/yogurt curry, anyone else ever done that?

Boil a kettle, and add the water to your saucepan. Place your chicken flavoured noodles from the packet into there. Add its usual flavourings. When you think it's nearly done add a small handful of cheese. Mix it around. Then get your bottle of Achaar (ready made chilli pickle) and add a spoonful, along with a few peices of mango. Mix it all again for the last time. Then pour it into your bowl. Add a handful of fried onions and enjoy.

All the flavours in that sound amazing...or maybe they wouldn't taste so great together. Hmm I should try this.

i dont think i wld ever try this...ever... but..i might tell my parents about it... i just came to term with the fact that some people like acchar and that.

might miss out of the cheese though...

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Both of you should try out my wierd and wonderful combination and tell me what you think! Give it a try, that's the only way you'll know!

@Lilly, do add the cheese, but not too much, otherwise it will taste heavy and not-so-good. Why have you just realised that people like Achaar? I love it (so long as it's medium and not the 'hot' version, otherwise my tastebuds won't be able to take the chilli-ness).

Mango Pickle

I *used* to absolutely hate cooking. Couldn't even crack an egg.

Butt since I started to watch 'Masterchef', I got loads of inspiration.

Since then I've cooked a lot of wonderful stuff like; Pizza, flapjacks, shortbread, bakewell tarts, cheese and onion pie and a basic bread dough (but sort of made it round and put jam in it to make it look like a doughnut, which I thought was rather clever. Biggrin Required a lot  of effort though, of course.

Can't think of any weird combinations that I've ever tried..  :S Bit boring, but yeah..

I watch Mastechef and Great British Bakeoff, thinking i can't wait to try that out. It never actually happens, so i don't think its inspiring me strongly enough. I think my biggest excuse is the time it takes. I feel as though i can't spend a good hour or so in the kitchen.

just watched a random british bake off episode.

then went on iplayer and saw the comic relief british bake off. that shall be this. but for now, trackering and bed.
