So I was told the correct way to have a khilafa would be for the scholars/leaders in the ummah to try to have one and to choose a leader.
Therefore a grassroots movement, like the HT isn't really useful, is it? Because they're trying to do things themselves instead of like, I dunno targetting the scholars and making them work for a khilafa...?
Do you get my point?

"Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islam), enjoining Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden). And it is they who are the successful." Surah al Imran verse 104.
Some people say that the group mentioned here are the scholars and others say it's just a group of muslims. I don't really know why it would be up to the scholars to establish a khilafah, especially the scholars of today. How many even speak against Al-Munkar? The ones that do can't do it alone either, alot of them are either imprisoned or killed for speaking out against the polytheists today. Ofcourse though you can't just go about trying to establish khilafah by any means necessary, you need to follow the Qur'an and sunnah and only a scholar could tell you what is the right and what is wrong thing to do. Once the group has been given this method they simply follow it.
As far i know, it will be upto the ones that implement the state to apoint a khalifah. Don't know much more than that about the appointing of the khalifa
Oh and if for example say the muslim brotherhood declare that they will implement Islam and shari'ah fully, no compromise. Then it will be the duty of all muslims to give bayyah(an oath of allegiance) to the appointed khalif.
I apologize if i've said anything wrong and Allah knows best.

It is a bad idea to give scholars power as they think their opinions hold greater weight than the opinions of others.
Khilafah is just a word. what is required is just rule and freedom from oppression.

khalifa now is a redundant idea only those with very little understanding could ever think there could be a khalifa in our time. Unless of course each sect all 73 of them had their own k and even then they'd be murdering and fighting over it

It's rather due to the lack of a leader that muslims are running around like headless chickens. Even in ages of the rightly guided khalifas people had different opinions and if it weren't for their authority and the decisions they made everyone would have followed their own version of Islam.
In regards to waiting for Isa (AS), when his time comes there is allready going to be a khilafah there. We have allready been promised the return of the Khilafah Rashida, there's no doubt about that.
When the muslims before heard the hadith about muslims taking over constantinople and other places they did not just wait for it to happen or think it was unreallistic, they knew it was a promise from Allah and they wanted the reward of achieving that goal. Many failed in taking over constantinople before Muhammed Al Fateh finally conquered it but they will insha Allah still gain the reward for their efforts.
It's the same with working for the khilafah, working towards establishing Allah swt's law and spreading Islam and justice through the lands. Even if you are not successful, as long as you made the effort through the means of the sunnah then insha Allah you'll be rewarded for the action anyway. If you are successful you will attain double the reward.

There was rarely one leader and there were often problems at other times too. Things were never perfect. Read up and you will realise the amount of chaos and disharmony that people went to.
There was a khalifah when Baghdad was ransacked.
The big problem is that people dont read what was there - it was not once single unified system but many systems and often enugh the khilafah was a collection of separaet city states all part of one collective organisation, like the EU or even an OIC with more power.

it explains the core ideal of the website
to elect a caliph or khalifa
it explains how a caliph or khalifa should be elected by the ummah aposed to self elected
the topic is khalifa so it is relevant.
