Put it this way they only follow religion to keep there parents happy, when they reach a certain age they then move away from religion, at least that's what I have seen - what's your experience or observation in this?

you listen to too much gossip. thats my overall "obsevation"

but from some of my friends. they grew up in Islam, and they may have messed up along that line but then they figured out what was good for them, they know Islam is good for them. so they are muslims, striving to become better. loving Allah and the religion He send.

doing that, not for parents or anybody's sake but Allah, by themselves.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Can't argue that

I just want to find out whether Music is allowed in Islam.

The answers is

Many modern Muslim interpretations allow music and singing under certain conditions, mainly if they do not encourage committing sinful acts

Because I feel religion was made for the olden days were people did not have much in there lifes only hope and believe that there was a higher power which could help them get into a better state then they are in and that's why theyworshiped God

and what have people got now?

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

yeah, that sounds reasonable, for older days religion, based on those ideas. and man-made.

but Islam is based on common sense and the things written in the Quran are proven by science. So people do not believe in Allah now just for the "hope" and the "higher being" but for the recognition of Allah's great power. for everything you discover, you love Allah more because He created it so perfectly to work so prefectly and a slight imbalance would destroy everything and create chaos

let me give you an example. our chromosome. we have 46 of them im pairs. so 23 pairs. but you'd thing. extra chromosomes wouldnt be harmful, it'd be beneficial, extra genes and that.
but
chromosome pair 21 - everyone has 2 copies of it. if you have THREE of it ( an extra one) you end up with downs syndrome.

see? the perfect-ness?

are you being sarcastic?

family and kids are no purpose in life either, thats what godless people believe. Worshipping and devouting your whole self to your Creator is purpose the Muslim's purpose.

and you do not need ancestry to be whatever-it-is-you-think-we-are. we are such different people you REALLY cannot call us "lucky people on here" our main common point is Islam and loving it.

and what do you make of reverts/converst to Islam, some of them become great scholars. blood and ancestry has nothing to do with anything. this is how the people of Ignorance, before the advent of Islam, use to think, all about tribes and ancestry etc...

I'm in as well now because I also love Islam thanks to everyone on here, you people have changed my thinking and you did it in the holy month of Ramzan - it did take you a very long time but you lot got there, may Allah be pleased with all of you

You can't change me on this

We who are from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Azad Kashmir are children of Hindus and Sikhs that converted to Islam we look like them, carry the same blood and caste names to this day and are proud of it

1. Bangladesh = women from Dhaka still wear the Hindu red dot (bindi on there forehead)
they carry the caste name Raja and Mian both of which are Hindu

2. Pakistani = carry the caste names and certain traditions, the only pure muslims are Abbssi, Qureshi, Syed the rest are Brahmin with names like Rao, Rajput with names like Raja, Jatt, with names like Chaudhry and the same goes for Azad Kashmir

3. Azad Kshmir = they wave salt over a childs head they call it[Loon pherna] to get rid of evil spells that’s is a hindu thing

My English is not very good

the stuff about the salt thing, thats not part of Islam, that the added stuff from culture. and it could be bordering on "shirk" associating partners with Allah if these people do not believe that Allah will remove the evil eye and believe that something else will.

names should not shape or direct an individual's life and their decisions and way of living. Its backwards to think that it does. Are you telling me that the Jane Smith and Ryan Quinn that convert will never be as good muslims as Aisha Syed or Amal Qureshi?! just because of THEIR NAME?! how irrational and supersistitious is that?!?!

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Lilly wrote:

Lets keep going

They burn red chills (know as Surkh Marchan) if they think the salt thing has not worked

more
Don't let women touch a bag of rice if they are on there days because the rice grains will not cook properly that's a Hindu thing

and long long long long long time a ago our ancestors have told us when a women got married she would have to get a bowl put water in the bowl tell her husband to wash his feet when his done that she would have to drink that dirty water, our Hindu ancestors use to call Cow Gao maa or Gao Shala (mother cow) if a child was ill they use to give it cow milk and piss mixed together I'M NOT JOKING

They also believe in Jadoo Taveez and they waste a lot of money on that kind of rubbish

On the other hand there was the Banu Quraysh, the Banu Hashim and others too.

There being tribes before Islam does not make them wrong.

Think of it like food. People before the advent of Islam ate food. Does now that mean that people should have stopped eating?

It does make them wrong because they were worshipping idol's along with cow mata monkey jee, rat jee, and goodness knows what else thats just wrong, please try and understand, I'm trying to see the light of Islam and I'm trying to keep as positive as I can

No,
But at that time they had no restrictions as such in regards to Halal and Haram that we had after our ancestors converted to Islam having said that our Hindu and Sikh ancestors would not eat meat at all

My parents say that

ahh..and we know how you feel about your parents right?

but, in islam, its not about what the parents say, its about what the QURAN and SUNNAH say. which parents may or may not relate correctly.

I feel ok about my parents

From what I understand in Islam it is the duty of the parents to bring there child up in a religious manner which is difficult in the UK and other western countries because parents could be punished for the tiniest of things besides kids are free thinkers in western countries and they don't buy into religion

I am of the opnion that is isnt difficult for parents ro provide their kids with a religious upbringing in the uk or other western countries. What it does require though is effort and dedication for u can only get out what u put in.

mhhmm, if u want to find the time for something u can im sure and if u dnt have time for ur kids, what are u doing? Yes sure, people do work but people need to think of how their work/life balance is affecting their kids. Its not impossible because the proof is out there. Theres always reasons that you can put forth in situations like these so what u wnat to do is think of ways u can change ur situation. As long as the parents are strong in their foundation i dnt think there should be any worries.

True,
But It's easier said then done

example
lets say dad leaves for work say 7am
at that time sons getting ready for school

Son comes home from school at 4 half 4 pm
has a bath has his dinner by that time
Dad has just come home from work at say 5pm
he also has a bath and has his dinner
its now 6pm
kids are told to get ready for mosque all they do in mosque is mess about and read some Arabic which they have no understanding of they are just reading it because they are being sent to the mosque by there parents

Then they come home do there school home work have more dinner and then go to bed

Look at it this way. Parents don't NEED to sit their children down everyday and give them lessons of Islam. How it works is as you raise your children with an Islamic upbringing. You teach them these things everyday, little by little for example just saying Bismillah before you begin anything.

You instill them with good character and etiquettes of a muslim. Cause having the knowledge of Islam and actually practicing it are two different things.

Where some asian families have gone a bit wrong is that they have a lack of understanding about Islam and it has been unfortunately mixed with cultural practices.

Lets reunite the ummah under one flag LA ILAHA IL ALLAH MUHAMMADUR RASULULLAH

Ok we can teach our kids little things like say Bismillah and all that but how look will they listen to that and follow it there will come a time (teenage) were they wil say forget it I have had enough of this and that is the problem in my view and to top things up they might be in with the wrong crowd who's to say?

i agree with what Bilan said, about the dedication and determination put in is what you get out. but i also agree with SI. however much D&D you put in, if the kids has the kid has the wrong friends, wait..forget wrong friends, just the environment is enough to destroy or challenge the D&D of the parent.

to fight all that the parents would need lots of knowledge and manners and patience to back that D&D. things that most parents dont have, or werent able to gain.

and this is where admin says something like "its about the test. we're not suppose to hide from it, but fight against the temptation" or soemthing like that. i can just hear it...

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?
