To me, prolonging a mundane task is like prolonging the torture.

Good way to think about things.

Ignoring the tasks can also work to a degree (except that they are still left to do at the end).

Problem with me is that, things hang over my head.

i hate that feeling!

dont mean to brag but im an excellent time keeper. maybe slacked a little at uni, but generally great.Even more so since having kids, need to be otherwise insanity will be waiting for me around the corner.

i agree with muslimsis, things hang over my head too. As for ignoring things YOU..my husband is good at that, maybe it's a man thing? i mean ignore the vacum cleaner, the rug will still be dirty tomorrow just more dirty. my pet hate dirty bathroom, i need to do that everyday i don't rely on a man for that, because that's like relying on a bus.

Only thing is i don't like rushing things, that stresses me out. So i take my time. i mean my mother taught me to make a meal of breakfast times, sit with family really relax before day begins. So i will gladly get up 1 hour earlier to relax with breakfast before shower and getting myself and kids dressed. So im usually up 5am sharp, tis heaven hearing nothing but the birds for at least 30 mins before kids get up. I only wish husband would enjoy breakfast with me. I know before i came along breakfast was non existant to him. So i guess i've made an improvement at least he eats cereal or a piece of toast now, albeit without a hot drink..weirdo!

Thank you very much, but its actually not a cold. Its just a low immune system for a day because of my lack of sleep.

but when you clean it once, it will still be as clean as if you had cleaned it every day!

you "win" all the times you didn't bother, because with less effort its still done "now".

It's not that we like things dirty, it's just that it's not worth the effort to constantly keep things clean. We draw the line in different places, as to how much dirt is too much dirt.

That's why I am seeking time management ideas.

That way, I want to be able to do everything I am doing now with energy and getting my sleep, because I really do value sleep however much people may think I don't. I sleep when I can like in the library, in lectures and if Im around at other peoples, I just put my head down on the sofa for a bit. But:

1. It's not healthy.
2. My enthusiasm for everything would be back if sorted my sleep out.

Also, Joie: whilst you're labelling the whole revival crew, may you also tell me how I can change from a nuisance playground oyster person to a better erm label please. Smile

i only clean when I feel its dirty. Like today, i hoovered, coz it was dirty. And i cleaned my room, and sorted my wardrobe (not today but this week), but this is a spring-cleaning thing, except its in Autumn-ish because of school, i like to have a CLEAN/FRESH start for school. So i dont have to do it DURING school. (as school takes already enough energy).

Most of the time i get told (by mum) to clean, anything, (room, house, kitchen, myself, etc..)

Do you guys clean EVERYDAY? that's crazy....

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Lilly wrote:

some rooms need cleaning everyday, i/e lounge, dining, kitchen, bathroom.

SBF do you wake up early? Thats the only way i get everything done, and relax and get enough hours to sleep. I try to cram in most my stressful tasks for the morning, so i can take it easy in the afternoon. At the moment i start my day @5am sharp, but i spend a good amount of time chilling out for the first hour. Well i try kids usually follow me down within 30 mins uff!

when i was at uni i was up earlier than that so i could relax and type up my assignments without my brothers hogging the computer. I'd do some revision early morning also, because i knew by the time i'd get home in the evening it would be late and i would be too tired to revise (i used to commute).

dont you students have chores to do before college/uni? Mum would make me do things, but sometimes i was forced because my other siblings wouldn't, and i felt guilty that mum was doing it alone.

in the usa they start school early. When i was there they were starting at 7-7.30am. and they'd finish by 2.30pm. They get plenty of time for homework, chores and relaxing. Maybe uk should follow suit?

Do I wake up early?

Hmmm. Probably.

And yes, UK should follow suit.

sbf is an early riser.

7.30!! well..lets compromise and do 8? You lot dont go school no more!!

Hajjar, what time do you go to sleep? If you wake up 5am you cant go to bed too late right?

well..yeah, kitchen cleaned everyday, agreed. But im thinking my stance on things is going to change when i get married, dunno which way though...

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

I wish I was a morning person. I'm usually up around 10 most mornings. Ramadan has really been difficult for me, so these days I'm up around 11.

When I was living in my own place, me and my husband wouldnt rise before 11.30 on the weekends - I'd justify it by telling myself that all week for work we get up around 6.30 so we have sleep to catch up on...

But that doesnt mean that chores don't get done...I just have loads of hands to help get the job done faster. In my in laws house, my mother in law and I, usually do the cooking together and my father in laws always washes up/does the kitchen and bathroon etc...when I was in my own flat...I'd do the cooking and kitchen...husband would do the bathroom and shopping etc...

Job sharing means that doing the kitchen after preparing a meal for 10people, gets done in 15min when everyone pitches in...

But I wish I was a morning person...maybe if I got up earlier I'd get even more chores done...but I rarely feel the need to get up early if I don't need to (don't need to be anyway/go anywhere)...maybe this will change after I have kids..

Hajjar, what time do you go to sleep? If you wake up 5am you cant go to bed too late right?

i usually sleep straight after isha, but since ramadhan, what with tarawih can be bit later. Then i just rise early enough to do fajr, and no point going back to bed coz kids will wake me up within half an hour or so. Obviously get more sleep in winter since isha starts earlier.

ps muslimsister aren;t you still working as a teacher? Are you living in your own place or with in laws at moment. Haven't heard from you in a while, sorry if i'm being nosey.

Do you have a nap in the middle of the day? (i know im asking lots of questions, but my dad does the "stay up after fajr and go to bed after taraweeh" but he wouldnt be able to do it without a nap)

To everyone who said label me thanks for making me Smile and I will with pleasure and after serious thought in the next couple of days.

I'm still working as a teacher - but its my summer holidays. I was living in my own place - moved back in with my in laws for the summer...but will be moving back out into our own place in October.

My life has not been stable since I've got married - in 2years I've lived in 4places!

Muslimsister

a very belated congrats on your marriage, i hope it's blessed with a lot of love and beautiful memories.

4 places!, must have been exciting and manic at the same time.

P.S Lilly i can't nap, no one to watch kids for an hour. I do doze off sometimes, especially now that i'm at the whale stage, major fatigue.

How do you manage your time?

Normally I'm alrite but atm its really bad. Because it's the holidays, I'm coming onto the revival too often and wasting time watching programmes online. I have to cut down very soon.

Gonna start my dissertation after I get my books, and classes start after Eid, so will come here less often.

after eid, what???

am i missing something??

I wasnt there long enough. i don't think the americans will be very welcoming especially authorities passport checking in.... What are you entering the usa for, business, pleasure or terrorism sir? They are really hostile, so i've been told.
