British MP George Galloway has been deported from Egypt, say activists working with him to take an aid convoy into Gaza.
The Bow and Bethnal Green MP had been with international activists trying to take 200 aid trucks into the blockaded Gaza Strip.
Egypt had refused some of the vehicles access and there have been protests and clashes on the Egypt-Gaza border.
The state news agency says Mr Galloway has left Egypt and returned home.
There have also been reports the Respect MP has been declared "persona non grata" and will not be allowed to enter Egypt again, following his criticism of Cairo over delays to the aid convoy.

Is George Galloway Muslim?
#Before you look at the thorns of the rose , look at it's beauty. Before you complain about the heat of the sun , enjoy it's light. Before you complain about the blackness of the night, think of it's peace and quiet... #
I just find it sickening to see that we can't even rely in our fellow Muslims for support... It's disgusting what the world has come to... It's every man for himself
Behold...Me!
who are the "we" to whom you refer?
I would assume it as someone who sympathises with the people of Gaza. As a human, even you may be included in that "we".
Or she may have meant muslims as a whole body who sympathise with the plight of people in Gaza.

muslims.
shame on egypt.
Did the aid get into Gaza?
From the story it seems that he was arrested on the way out... while before I had thought the aid convoy had been blockaded in the ports?

eventually.
it had.
i don't understand what they hoped to achieve by doing that.
they are part of the blockade on Gaza and as such (through agreement) they probably cannot let some things in - things which we consider basic, but others do not.
Metal, cement, electronics and much much more can be banned because some people think it cna be used for other things.
Even hospital equipment - it is generally sophisticated and if your aim is to only let basic food stuffs in, well, it defeats the blockade.
A few years ago, when Ariel Sharon was the PM of Israel, he said something like "we need to hit the palestinians so hard that they accept the unnacceptable" and this is a part of the same process - oppress them to the degree that any settlement offered to them will seem better than what they have now, so they may feel forced to accept it.

why did they agree to it?
Now, that is a good question.
Either due to other prior agreements, fear of israel, or even fear of Hamas - they are spiritually linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, who are banned in Egypt and thought by many to be one of the few real groups who can overthrow the government, or replace it after Hosni Mubarak.

must be fear of israel or something.
by blocking aid they only angered hamas more, pretty stupid if they are scared of them.
scared of them spreading - which in that part of the world you overcome by hitting the person you do not want to take over.
There are not scared of Hamas militarily, but in mindshare - if Hamas is successful, then similar minded groups in Egypt gain some legitimacy.

but they aren't hitting them, they are hitting the people of gaza.
your promary view of yourself is as a muslim. thst is the problem. you see the world in terms of religion snd religious blocs. Relgion is a private matter not a team sport nor a substitute for plural democracy and international law tom
THe Brotherhood the source of most of the ills of Islam the organisiation that politicised islam and turned muslims into dangerous malcontents even in muslim majority countries
Or it could be that leaderships were imposed in such countries to curtail the rights of the people and such curtailing of rights is causing people to be malcontent.
Even the Muslim Brotherhood got some of its hard edges after being driven underground through the actions of those regimes - before which they were more mainstream, and even people like Syed Qutb were expelled from the organisations for being too extreme. Now those same people are the ideologues, the Che Guevara's of the masses

why is that a problem?
the arabic word for religion is 'deen' which means a way of life. you see tom, islam has covered everything, every aspect of life. we have been told what to do from the moment we wake up till the moment we sleep by the messenger of God. islam all-inclusive.
religion is and isn't a private matter. the private side being the spiritual side other than that, everything is pretty much public.
it's apparent that you a very ignorant, do take time out and read around islam and the life of the messenger of God.
i recommend this book to you - Muhammad His Life Based on Earliest Sources by Martin Lings
God says in reference to the messenger of God: "And We have not sent you except as a mercy to mankind" (Surah Al-Anbiya)
the politicisation of islam will be the death of it. and unite the world!! i certainly do not want my grand children to grow up in an islamic society dont you just love the smell of a stoning in the morning? tom
please learn how to quote, it really isn't that hard.
They however will have their own minds and may be far more accepting of it than you, they may even want it and see themselves as a productive part of it.

learn how to have a debate - that means responding to points made it really isn't that hard
quote properly and i will.
who cares i will quote "properly" when you say something worth quoting properly
i care.
the issue is not one of niceties - it is one of legibility. In replies to long posts it can get tricky to figure out which bits are the answers, and which bits where there before. the new addition of bolding some of the new bits helps a little, but since it is not always bolding all the new additions, it is not always easy to figure out which bit is a reply and which bit is a quote.

debate requires content which is not the same as length tom
debate requires legible content. If it gets too hard to read what the opponent says, people will simply move on.
So far, while annoying, what you say can mostly be found, but that depends on an individuals personal limits of enduring badly laid out responses.
