Arrests at anti-Islamic protest

Police in Birmingham have arrested 33 people during protests by anti-fascists and a group demonstrating against Islamic fundamentalism.

One protest involved a group known as Casuals United, which police said were made up of local football fans.

Another "counter-protest" in the city centre was organised by Unite Against Fascism, West Midlands Police said.

The protest, which began at 1800 (BST), is ongoing and police said disorder had been sporadic.

A police spokeswoman said public safety was an "absolute priority".

I remember the oldham riots in... erm... I think they were in Oldham. 2001 I think.

One of the many sore points building up to the night of violence was when "football fans" from afaik Stoke were guided by the police (who were seen as stoking the tensions, no pun intended) through an area where they along the route managed to smash up many Asian owned shops.

That whole episode ended a few weeks later with a night of violence where many "white-owned" shops/buildings/pubs were smashed as part of rioting, which was mainly against the local police force.

This seems to be following the same route.

Black and White unite against Fascists in Birmingham

London Muslim conveys huge respect to the Christians, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, and people of no faith who stood firm against the Fascists trying to march in Birmingham yesterday apparently against "Islamic Fundamentalism".

The truth behind the demonstration was this was a march by a bunch of pissed up intellectual trash looking for a fight now that the football season has started.

History teaches us from the Fascists marching against the Jews in Cable Street, to the defeat of the National Front in Southall in 1979 as well as more recently in Burnley and Oldham you cannot allow racist scum to feel secure roaming the streets spouting their vile hatred against minorities.

How about dealing with Islamic Fascists in the UK.History teaches us that Islam is a
violent, moralizing, mysogynistic, elitist cult which has kept mostly Muslims in intellectual
darkness, and ghettoes of poverty. Most UK citizens are coming to realise this, but Sikhs,Hindus,Christians and Jews already know the horrible History of the Islamic Empire.

yeah, but what about this bunch of thugs:

Thanks for commenting! To be honest, as a white, British guy, many whose ancestors fought for Britain in the world wars, as well as helping Her/His Majesty conquer, destroy, rape and then give back (without accepting any responsibility for most of the damage nor repercussions) of over half the world, in the process creating the biggest Empire the World has/had ever seen, now mostly known as the 'Commonwealth' (although only Britain and possibly Canada could be called 'wealthy'), I think it's a bit rich to talk about the Muslims in Britain, most of whom came to settle here to rebuild the country after the collapse of the Empire, as 'violent' or 'elitist'.

Furthermore, the term 'intellectual darkness' is more suited to the 'Dark Ages' which is the period in history where most of Western/Northern Europe (especially Britain) was an uneducated, backward, unequal place full of savages living in mud huts along the side of the River Thames. Meanwhile, in the Islamic world, huge advances were made in science, medicine, technology and philosophy. The largest, most advanced cities in Europe were in Southern Spain, under the rule of the Muslims. In fact, almost all the knowledge that was later utilised by the Europeans in the 'Renaissance' period was passed on by Muslims.

The sorry state of the Muslim-majority countries today is mainly due to the pillage and destruction of their culture/social system by the colonizing European powers (Britain especially). To be honest the only thing I agree about in your post was when you called Islam 'moralizing' (sic). I agree that Britain has become devoid of values or a suitable moral code that is positive and brings people together to do good. Only (mainstream) Islam is providing this, as it is a world away from the headlines of beheadings or forced marriages. This is why thousands of British people of all socail backgrounds are embracing Islam every month. They have found what the 'British Way of Life' didn't offer.

It is true that may of the Muslims in Britain are poor or uneducated, and this has caused some social problems with gangs of youths, it is unfair to blame Islam for that situation. The truth is many are first/second/third generation immigrants (who Britain invited for free due to the need of the country after its damage to the infrastructure during World War II) who came from rural communities. It is perfectly natural that this might cause friction in urbanised, 'emancipated', Sophisticated Britain.

If you read about the teaching of Islam with an open mind and heart I doubt you would agree with what you wrote in your post above.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

'say my religion is peaceful, or I'll beat you up' ???

irony.

in a time when muslims are constantly playing the race card the victim clause and anything else for that matter that absolves us of any responsibility of any kind. we see quite clearly once again with absolute proof that we have lost that moral highground

the behaviour of the thugs and rioters in birmingham, many young angry and muslim, shows the hypocrisy and lack of morality and first and foremost THE unislamic behaviour and decorum which ironically they claim to defend.

our communities are rife with drug dealers, which multiply due to that ignorant mentality of ..do not grass on youre brother

well, if our brothers are drug dealers, rapists, fraudsters ,hired car scammers, vat fiddlers, credit card conners, benefit fraudsters and basically thieve anything they can rip off and run with..should the rest of us remain silent?

should we remain "brotherly" with them

what if the very drugs they push one day end up in youre sons or daughters veins or nose,

the brotherhood mentality ,community denial and cover up has gone too far

we are drowning and decaying in our own little reverse apartheid ,self walled ,villages of ineptitude

a constant focus on foreign affairs in matters we have no influence over has led to the homes, and mosques and also individuals to remain totally blind to whats happening mere streets and footsteps away.

concern for countries and people whom we care for as an ummah is no doubt a duty too,but not at the expense or our own house going up in flames .

iraq is burning so is afghanistan, now pakistan too

but so is dewsbury, leeds, bradford, huddersfield, birmingham, london and more..unfortunately

we have no power to quell the flames in foreign lands

but surely we can do something about our own backyards

http://july7thvictim.blogspot.com/

but what if they were incited towards violence?

I hear that the protesters were shouting racial slurs in order to get a reaction. Not everyone is cool headed - especially people who go to protests - they go because they are passionate.

The cool headed stay at home because they could not be bothered in the first place.

Far-right group, the English Defence League, in disarray after Birmingham fracas

Anti-Islamic protesters found they were seriously out-numbered in Birmingham

A rightwing group which promised a summer of peaceful demonstrations against British Islamic extremists was in disarray today after its first significant protest ended in violence and 35 arrests.

The English Defence League staged a march near the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham this weekend but its small band of supporters was drastically outnumbered by anti-fascist campaigners and riot police. The protest ended in violent skirmishes and running battles through the city’s busy shopping streets on Saturday evening.

Members of the League resorted to bitter in-fighting today as supporters labelled the organisers “ridiculous” and the event a “shambles”.

At least three people were injured as hundreds of police, some in full riot gear, broke up fights between anti-Islamic protesters and anti-fascist groups who came to disrupt the demonstration. At one point officers were forced to seal off New Street with a steel barrier.

...

One message on the Casuals United site read: “We will arrange it via the Inner Circles secret forums, so we will arrive unnanounced and neither the police or the scum will know any details.”

I would not like to be any of the ethnic people in the pictures... they will get the full force of the law in an unjust fashion.

Kind of like the people who get sent down in Oldham etc after the riots... where the Asians got on average atleast twice the sentence length as others.

This guy is a goner for sure:

...'ethnic people'?

swap that with non-Caucasian. Though all the violence mongers will be dealt with, some will probably be more dealt with than others.

THere is another protest planned in Luton for 29 august. fun - Ramadan too and Mozlems always have a short temper then.

Why is the post titled "violent anti Muslim protests in Birmingham" and then it's got a video underneath titled "anti BNP protest in Birmingham"?

...It confuses me :s

+ why do you say ethnic? Is that the proper word for all not-white people?

And what about people who are more than one race? which one do they fit in or does that depend on their appearance?

#Before you look at the thorns of the rose , look at it's beauty. Before you complain about the heat of the sun , enjoy it's light. Before you complain about the blackness of the night, think of it's peace and quiet... #

There was an anti islamic protest, and an anti anti islamic counter protest at the same time - the latter being anti BNP as the original one was seen as a front for the BNP and other racist groups.

Think so - I have seen it used as such and monkey see, monkey do. Technically, "white people" are also ethnic. (ethnically caucasian?) ("white people" is also not accurate... people from the indian subcontinent can be much fairer in colour, especially if they are from mountainous regions. also "white people" gives off a racist vibe to me... so I dislike it. Not sure if the vibe is real or imaginary...)

And what about people who are more than one race? which one do they fit in or does that depend on their appearance?

Depends on the context I guess. "multi-ethnic"/"multi-racial" ? either that, or part of whatever group that is present in the situation. If you are in a group of people from one ethnicity causing trouble, you are part of that group.

Fundamentalism exists in all religions.

Coincidence that this one is against Islamic Fundamentalism? I doubt it.

Why don't we all get together and have a protest against Christian Fundamentalism in Trafalgar square? How do you think that will go down.

Ignorant, arrogant, heartless, filthy people.
