salaam 2 all..
just a quick Q..I have heard some debate on this today..about fasting ..some say we are NOT supposed to be fasting..
One has heard or read that it "doesnt mention in the Quran anyting about prayin or fastin on this day of Shab-e-baraat... evn our Rusoollullah (pbuh) forbade others to keep any fast after the mid Sha’ban. Other than Ramadan and there is no reference of the 15th night.."
also..
"..The reason why this day has been brought 2 light is because Shias believe that 15th Sha’ban is the birth date of their last and 12th Imam who is invisible and will come back as Imam Medhi.."
can somebody plz put some light into this!

The reason why the Prophet forbade fastin after mod shaban is because he was wary of people become tired/ill because of fasting and so not being able with fast in Ramadhan. Since Ramadhan fasting is obligatory and shaban fasting isn't, it made sense for people to prepare for Ramadhan and not risk missing out on it.
As far as I remember.

Hmm, never heard of the Shia thing before.
