Ahmed was one of the most sought out after brothers in the MSA and it is well known that many sisters actually joined Centennial MSA just to work with him.
However things took a turn for the worst when his would-be fiancé declined his proposal. “Just when I was about to accept him as my future husband I got a link to his Facebook profile” said Wafia Khalil, 22. “It was the most disgusting thing I’ve seen in my life.” Ahmed may have had a rosy and pleasant exterior but his Facebook profile painted a different side to him. “Covering your face with shisha smoke stopped being cool 3 years ago” explained Khalil. “When his ugly face wasn't being covered with shisha smoke then it was smothered and hugged by some nasty scantily-clad girls. Why would he put such dumb pictures on Facebook?”
Other bizarre pictures of Ahmed featured him tackling a cheerleader, licking a non-Zabiha hot dog and an interesting close-up of him shaving his legs and eyebrows to join a fraternity. “Yeah, I got a lot of negative feedback about that but my legs are silky smooth now mashAllah”
Other awkward thoughts that occur in my head during a common Facebook visit:
"Waita minute ... wasn't he a beardo... oh..."
"Waita minute ... isn't she a hijabi ... oh..."
"Waita minute ... isn't he Muslim ... oh..."
And so forth.
Then there were other pictures that were like border-line shirk and I'd probably get sinned for even showing such pictures on this website. Filthy.
The above is parts of a spoof article taken from the ManiacMuslim site.
I took pasted the above cos it has a lot of truth in it - SO many Muslims have HiFive, myspace or Facebook accounts - and a name/email search in my free time into HiFive websites can sometimes paint a picture of someone you thought you knew very well….
Why do people think it’s necessarily to post dodgy pictures of themselves for the world to see? Why don’t people worry about others finding them? Doesn’t this give license for God knows how many weirdo’s to access this information and therefore stalk them?
Have you got a facebook/myspace etc account? Have you ever found out stuff about people you thought you knew very well through this account? Do you ever search people names/email addresses?
And what is the point of these accounts?
Wasalaam
No.
Oh yes, you can never know someone too well.
No, but now I will do thanks to you
Making friends is the first thing which comes into my head.
This guy I was talking to was saying how some big firms check out potential employee's profiles on the MyFace and such. It gives them a more rounded impression of the candidate rather than just relying on half-truths in CVs.
I only got a facebook account cos I heard the Revival was on it.
i was an addict on those things, had a myspace, bebo, hi5 and a facebook account, got rid of them all and only have facebook, but thats probably gona go too, so boring! it was a time pass and everyone at school had/has it.
have never put any pictures of myself on there, just had accounts to keep tabs on people and to snoop lol.
have spotted bare people on there, a total different side is revealed. i was like  when i came across certain people.
I have an account with one of them. Or should I say had? I used it like once, thought the whole thing was overrated and never bothered again.
I *think* it was Hi5. but it could have been another - I used to receive tins of invites for loads of these things. No idea if it still active, as I doubt they could be deleted once created. I think.
EDIT - just checked and it was hi5. Account previously deleted, probably due to inactivity.

...And to get more detailed info..create a fake account.
i got facebook. i resisted for ages but now i really like it.
i've got in touch with people who i havn't seen since school...
kept in touch with my friends when they'v gone off to uni around the country...
and one of my friends posted some pictures of us when we were 10 years old- it was embarrassing but also SO nice to remember when i was round faced and innocent
in terms of people posting 'incriminating' pics of me- if you#ve never done anything bad, theres nothing to show, is there?
Don't just do something! Stand there.
Im wiv Ya'qub on this one. I got a facebook account too only jus started using it a lot now. Lost contact with most of the ppl from my high school an got into contact with them as a result of facebook. We have even organised a reunion where a load of us are getting together to have a proper catch up should be good. As for ppl putting their pictures up i dont see the point its just shows how vain you are.
No not the gum drop buttons! – Gingy
alot of people prefer facebook because it has alot more restrictions and privacy
random people cant view your profile and rate your pics "hot or not"
not that i have my pics up- the people who are on my friends list know wt i look like
To be beautiful is to expect nothing in return.
i have such an account but do i want to show it to you? maybe yes or maybe not thats for you to decide
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...
funzo :?
To be beautiful is to expect nothing in return.
I dont have a facebook account - my younger sister has a fake one though.
Apparently facebook isnt as private as it says it is....I've seen people's wild profiles even without adding them as friends.
Websites such as Facebook and MySpace have been criticised by child safety campaigners, who say that they give paedophiles anonymous access to large numbers of children.
In July, MySpace said that it had removed 29,000 American sex offenders from its network after pressure from US state governments. British police said at the time that they had no plans to give MySpace names of sex offenders so that they too could be evicted from the site

you have to choose to make your profile private,
some choose not too.

I was SO bored today, I finally created a facebook account. Still getting the hang of pokes and nudges.
On a side note, why are sundays so boring? I've been out, entertained guests, sorted out clutter, watched a lot of TV and still this day doesnt seem to end.
To be bored is to be boring ^

Well, I got soaked in the rain 5 times. FIVE times!

Sounded like fun Admin. Seriously.
I'm actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow! Thats how long today was...
I did not mind it either. It was just later on when I had some spare time that I decided to add it all up.

A rose protects its beauty with thorns..a woman protects hers with a veil
Apparently alot of people on my course use facebook.
They post up discussions & organise events etc...
not to mention putting up pics of their 'nights out' from which Im conveniently missing.
Everytime they ask me, im like: yeah yeah sure i'll be there.... i dont think they've realised im being sarcastic.
But in general the facebook thing is good coz I get to catch up on any notices ive missed.

wat degree to pick.

99% of degrees do not lead directly up to a job.
Just pick one in a subject you are interested in. Afterwards, you will still need to get some training to get a "degree level" job.

Best to ask a career advisor, but I doubt you need an English degree to become a GCSE standard English teacher?
Even if you do, you can have it as part of a mixed subject. English and IT. English and Business studies etc etc.

just say i wanted to become an english teacher wud my degree have to be english/eductaion related? Having said that as much as i love the subject i dont think i'll cope.
luks like its gng to be business.
A rose protects its beauty with thorns..a woman protects hers with a veil
too right you wont chucka. keep it in the family and do business
I don't think the uni I'm applying for do a degree that combines the two subjects.
I reli do like business, but feel my passion lies with English .
With my degree I feel if I do an English/Education one I will be jumping in the deep end. With a business one I will be comfortable.

Speaking of umbrella's, I bought a wind-proof umbrella from the GPU event.
Apparently they tested it, and it works in winds upto 40mph. It's really nice, you close and open the umbrella with the press of a button. I got two mini-umbrellas free (a green and pink one).
lets say it is carried by a real light weight... would they fly like Mary Poppins?
