I cant right now find an article that touched me about being good to parents or anything, but there's this video and one of his main point there is being good to parents, so that will be my introductionary post.

I created this topic coz of stuff going on at home, and at the same time i was listening to this vid and i had no idea it was going to mention parents and now im a bit at a loss coz my questions kinda got answered.

What freedom are we calling for?

There is a call for 'freedom' in the Middle East, both from citizens within its troubled borders, and from our own Western supporters of democracy overseas. This is, of course, with good intention. However, the call seems remarkably simplistic. There is a formulaic image being created of Arab heroes rushing to the streets only to be suppressed, injured, or killed by stubborn, iron-fisted regimes that wish to thwart political freedom. We in the West show our support for our fellow brothers and sisters in humanity under these dictatorships, arguing too that they deserve the right to democratic elections and to other civil liberties that we enjoy here in the West. And so the alleged struggle of freedom vs. oppression / "good vs. evil" continues.

Attitudes to Disability: Islam, the West & the M.East

I linked to this in my latest blog, but I'm not sure how many people wll bother reading that, so you might miss it! I think it's worth a read, so that's why I'm creating this topic to bring it to people's attention, incase I hadn't already. Personally, it gave me an insight into the way disabled people were treated but the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) and I liked it because it's not something that's discussed a lot and so I learnt something new. PARENTS IN ISLAM

"And we have commanded man to do good to his parents. His mother bore him with great hardship and
brought him forth in great pain. And the bearing and weaning are in thirty months until when he attains full strength and reached forty years, he said: O my lord! Inspire me that I may keep offering thanks for His favour which you bestowed on me and on my parents (and grant me strength) that I may do good deeds those of which you approve and make my offspring righteous for me.
Truly I turn to you in repentance and surely I am of those who submits to your
commandments in all humanity." (SURA 46 V15)
