Home Secretary Jacqui Smith Accused of allowing torture of British Muslim

A Briton held on suspicion of terrorism in Bangladesh is to sue Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, alleging she allowed his torture, the Home Office has confirmed.

Former civil servant Jamil Rahman, who grew up in south Wales, claims he was interrogated by MI5 officers in between beatings by Bangladesh security forces.

He gave false confessions, including that he masterminded the 2005 terror attacks on London, Mr Rahman says.

The Home Office says British security forces neither condone nor use torture.

A Home Office spokeswoman said Mr Rahman's legal team had written to the home secretary, who would respond "in due course"...

This story seems a fabricated report.

Jacqui Smith was not even a Home Secretary in 2005.

We all know that U.S. tortures innocent people, but UK is above such barbaric acts.

Too much faith in the system you have, Omrow.

This is not the only such case - others who were locked up in Guantanamo, Pakistan also allege similar things.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

I dont think Britain participates in torture or approves it.

This is not America you know.

We dont do barbaric things like they do overthere.

Idiots.

It is they who locked up suspects without trial or charge.

We in Britain arrest a person and charge him within 14 days.

Over there in the U.S. they leave a suspect in jail for 8 years without charging the fellow.

How can you be so confident that you know what the British do or do not do?

Let me give you an example.
Saluhdin Amin was supposedly one of the participants/terror suspects of the 'Fertilizer bomb plot' 2003.

He was a British citizen who had gone to Pakistan to live there, he was arrested by the Pakistani forces and tortured in ways that would make you sick. To give a summary of the things he said:
They would torture me, strip me of my clothes, beat me, bend me over a table and threaten to "drill a second hole" into me. They would deprive him of his sight so he could not see who was torturing him. SubhanAllah he said he was reduced to such a state that at one point after having being tortured, he was on the floor and he saw some ants walking, and began asking ANTS to make dua for him. Every night after repetitive torture, the guards who carried out these actions would say "Forgive us, we have no choice, we have families and we need to put food on the table, please forgive us."
They would ask questions related to the plot he was apparently a part of, to which he didn't know the answers (as he was innocent) and then they would tell me the answers to those questions.

A few weeks later a nice British person in a suit would come, sit down, cup of tea, "how do you do?"
And then ask those very samequestions to which he was expected to provide those answers that were given to him. This carried on for time, it was periods of torture, then nice interviews, torture, interviews, torture....

How do I know? His defense lawyer Tayyub Ali told me. This is just ONE case.

With all due respect, anyone who believes that Americas' best friend (Britain) is too civilised to participate in, condone or sponsor acts of torture and violations of human rights on foreign soil, really needs to wake up.

I am a Brit, thats why. I would never torture a person.

Its against British values not to be fair.

We Brits are fair minded people. We dont engage in evil acts.

Your example is an example of lawyers trying to make money by fabricating stories.
