Near Death Experiences- What do you think?

Near Death Experiences

Definition:
A near-death experience (NDE), refers to a broad range of personal experiences associated with impending death, encompassing multiple possible sensations including detachment from the body; feelings of levitation; extreme fear; total serenity, security, or warmth; the experience of absolute dissolution; and the presence of a light, which some people interpret as a deity. Some see NDEs as a paranormal and spiritual glimpse into the afterlife.

Such cases are usually reported after an individual has been pronounced clinically dead, or otherwise very close to death, hence the entitlement near-death experience.

Got it.

Thought about it before I went to sleep.

Endorphins.

Fewer replies that I had expected so far.

Personally, I don't think the "Near death experiences" are anything but chemical reactions in the brain, lack of Oxygen, barriers braking down etc. Reason being? I have not heard anyone say that they have had a negative "near death experience" - its always a bright light with loved ones waiting. pleasant.

Now, that can be the case for some people, but for sinners, dying is supposed to be a traumatic experience where the soul is ripped out of the body in a manner described as cotton being torn by nettles. That does not sound pleasant to me.

Why is it always positive? the only reason I can think of is lack of oxygen - that is supposed to be able give people a high.

So I do not think the experiences that people report are metaphysical or spiritual. (also, the uniformity of the types of "experience" can potentially influence others as they know that others have seen them, so they may "decide" to think the same thoughts....)
