You are unable to reject the practise without also having hate? Then do not expect respect for your hateful beliefs.

Love and hate for the sake of ALLAH is a pillar of our faith.
You dont resspect my Nabi salallahu alayhi wa sallam - what do you think I hope of from you. I've had enough on this pathetic thread. Enjoy yourself 100.

It's rude and unnecessary, unless solicited, for people to run around giving frank appraisals of everyone else. All that is needed to show respect is to avoid any undue violation.
Reverence is another matter, and good manners dictate you do not ask other people to show praise for something they obviously do not believe. If you decide to impose yourself on somebody else like that you will bare the responsibility for the reprocussions of breaking this rather simple understanding among people.
There is no reason to discuss any of this, we don't have these kinds of problems here everyone has been brought up well enough to grasp these little rules of conversation. Those that lacked these rather simple manners earlier in the day find themselves corrected at the end of it. And so there is no need to fight.
I am not running around giving frank appraisals of anyone. I resent the implication. The point I'm making is for openness without hatred and religion without compulsion, as they say. These are far-reaching discussions.

I wasn't implying that...
It was a syllogism and I was setting up an axiom for the minor premise that immediately followed.
In fact I worked triple hard just to make sure absolutely nobody presently involved in this conversation could read anything insulting into it whatsoever.
That's why I kept everything in the subjunctive and used neutral sounding words.
I guess I did judge that Med's reply was full of insults - and moments earlier he complained of people praying without a full beard - that khan was offensive, that Vedeno was polite and respectful and that Beast's reply was excellent, so I concede I do run around giving frank appraisals. I also suggested that people who do not understand the spirit of enquiry and who detest others expressing their attitudes to Islam, cannot expect to be respected.
Either way I like this thread, my point is clear.

Are you sure? I thought my point (and intention) was pretty clear from the last post but even despite all my careful efforts it turns out you can read it another way.
Not to mention there is that whole other tiger to contend with - intention. A point can be crystal clear but it's a lot more difficult to convey your intentions with clarity.
To a certain extent that can be even worse since it depends so heavily on how willing the recipient is to recieve it.
For example you could say "well dave does have a point" and that settles that but you might not be very clear if my intention was to chastize you (as you thought was the case in the last), or to present an interesting/academic argument just for the hell of it. And as it would turn out while both readings could be true neither actually is true; since the real intention is distraction.
Or you could say "no Dave does not have a point" but that really isn't all that relevant and in the end basically serves as obiter dictum for the purposes of this example.
But since I'm going with a "Stream of Conciousness" approach I figured it would account for some style points.
I have not read this topic, so I may be off-base here.
I would not expect to believe in the prophethood. I would not even demand that they respect the prophet (saw).
But on these forums its a must to be respectful.
No idea if that line will ever be crossed, but just to make it clear.

No I was just making it clear to everyone that there is a line somewhere.
I do not know if anyone has crossed it, but letting people know will warn those who may intend on crossing, and relieve the worry for those who think someone else may cross it.

Jim, let me here tonight issue a warning to the enemies or potential enemeies of the United States: you may think you know the location of the "lock-box". Maybe you do. Or maybe that's a decoy. Or a dummy "lock-box". Only the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, myself and Tipper are gonna know for sure.
but 100man, i dont expect you to believe in the Prophet (saw), nor am i bothered if you accept his status.....but is there a need to disrespect him? to think bad of him?
regarding krishna and other god's - i simply dont believe they exist. it would be silly and pointless if disrespect them or think bad of them, coz quite frankly - there isnt much to think about
christian god, jewish god, muslim god - all the same god....the prophets - we accept Jesus and Moses.
If you dont accept Jesus or Prophet Muhammed (saw)....why does it concern you in such a way, that you had to start this thread?
i dont want to argue with you, or go down the same route as the last discussion between me and you went....but bro, i feel offended.
It's my belief that i love the Beloved Prophet more than anything or anyone - what islam for me bases all around.
Think what you like of the Prophet (Saw), but please - if its not nice, dont tell me

But once we get drunk on that love,

I don't mind too much that you don't see the need and I don't want to make it worse, please don't be disturbed, there really is nothing for you to feel offended about. Nothing. I am not calling for prejudice, I am not giving offense and I am not suggesting that the forces of 100 will conquer the world and so that your opinions wouldn't matter. Notice that even stating the obvious caused upset to two or three posters and concern from others and prompted some interesting votes (the only good one coming from me). Honestly you learn a lot about people's attitudes when you point out the obvious. Anyway we got through it.
ftr I have a vested interest as I had named something after someone called Mohammed and was happy to think that it could be interpreted as referring to the prophet because it was essentially a piece about ambiguity with an amusing story behind it, and I had to slightly modify the name when I realised that the consequences might be unsafe. It remains a bit risqué (although visually inoffensive) and does not warrant intolerance, so I had been aching to discuss this.
There is another forum I sometimes comment on where a lot of the people are unfamiliar with Muslims and I believe some people there veer on prejudice that I do not support, and it makes a big difference that I can point to interactions with people of goodwill such as yourself. However I would not be doing it right if I did not also challenge and confront people not of goodwill. I am sorry that in the process just now I disquieted a couple of others, and in the context of my having started two other challenging threads recently, your disquiet is understandable, so I will call it an experiment for me that is over now, and that met with success (most people here do not want to impose shariah; prefer a just peace to war until victory; and do not go stir-crazy when I defend free speech about Mohammed: result).

i did not find your post offensive although it was unnecessarily provocative. as some people have already mentioned, it doesn't come as a surprise that you do not believe in Muhammad (s.a.w) being a Prophet, seeing as how you follow Judaism - not exactly rocket science. i would however have found it offensive if, as beast pointed out, you made your inevitably ill-informed views on the Prophet (s.a.w) known.
khan,
your response was disgusting. in fact it probably doesn't even count as a response seeing as how every other word was a swear. :?
once Abu Bakr (r.a) was sitting with the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) whilst someone cursed him repeatedly from across the road. Eventually Abu Bakr (r.a)'s patience was spent and he responded to the curses. The Prophet (s.a.w) then got up and walked away. When Abu Bakr (r.a) asked: "O Prophet of Allah, why did you walk away when I replied to his curses?", the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "As he began cursing, Allah appointed an Angel to respond, but as soon as you responded to him the angel went away."
as Vedeno put across very well, our love for Rasulullah (s.a.w) knows no bounds. but our defense of the Prophet (s.a.w) will sound hollow if we do not follow his example when expressing ourselves.

There is no serious and honest thought in your words. I believe you are presently a backwards-thinking person, preferring to justify your views or the views of your culture than to explore possibilities and engage in open conversation. That is what I take from your glib replies. You are right that I am being tongue-in-cheek when I speak of your life story, although if you wished to make an exercise of it you might start to understand yourself better and identify childish petulance as your most defining trait.
