"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
i studied this hadith yesterday and it reminded me of this discussion, so thought i'd just share it with you all...
on the narration of Umm 'Atiyyah (r.a.), she said: We were told to bring out the menstruating women on the days of both Eids, and the veiled women, then we witnessed the gathering of the muslims and their invocations, and the menstruating women were to avoid their places of prayer. A woman said: "Oh Prophet of Allah! What if one of us does not have a jilbab?" He said: "Her friend should clothe her from her [the friend's] jilbab". [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 8, Hadith number 347]
Umm 'Atiyyah (r.a) was a major jurist, thanks to her we have detailed fiqh relating to women's issues. sorry i didn't have my english bukhari with me, so i translated it (pretty much word for word). the last part basically means she should borrow a jilbab from her friend, or share with her.

Yes- All Mpac focused on was her apparent rant at the media and the fact that HT supported her- was enough for MPAC to ignore her.

Hi salaam im new here
I think she was right to do what she did coz its her right as a muslim, human being and British citizen to wear any type of religious clothing (aslong as it doesnt offend others).
I see alot of school girls wearing skirts and i just realised gosh theyre getting smaller and smaller (not that i was eying em up lol)
If they are allowed to show off their legs then why can't girls do the opposite and cover themselves up if they want to, to preserve their modesty.
Respect to her for standing up for whats right.
