Halloween... originally a pagan festival marking the start of winter. Reduced to a commercial holiday where people dress up as ghosts, gobblins and slutty pumpkins.
Just had some kids turn up to my door "trick or treat"... dressed like freaks. But lets just say the treat we gave... wasnt just candy Mwhahahahhahaha.
Although personally i wouldnt celebrate such a festival im curious to hear what you guys have to say. Harmless fun? shirk?
Or alternatively if you have a scary story i'd like to hear that too.
I would avoid it and encourage others (muslim kids I know) to avoid it too.
Or just say "sorry, no can do." and shut the door.
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
There was a show on DM Digital today where kids wearing masks were being encouraged to make scary faces.
ne1 who comes 2 my house nd says trick or treat im gnna give them a lecture about religion hopefully they will walk away
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...
a couple of years back someone knocked on my cuzins door, he told them to wait, went upstairs filled a bucket of water, went to the top window and poured it over the guys head.
another time, instead of given a penny my aunt said wait a minute, and she brought out a chappti. lol
its not fun, but its harmless shirk!
seruiously tho, i don't see how dressing up like a giblin is 'associating partners with Allah (swt)'. I understand that witchcraft is haram, but how many kids are actually commiting witccraft? where do we draw the line? is harry potter haram because they perform magic (and dumbledore is gay)?
Don't just do something! Stand there.
lol
that would be funny

i remember having a big debate on Halloween last year. The lil ones wanted to go out trickle treating and i put my foot down and told them no. Mum on the other hand said its just harmless fun
Personally i think it pointless, a waste of money and no fun trekin around in the freezing cold dark night for a couple of sweets and pennies.

I got "Miss, its halloween today. Are we doing fun stuff today?"
And I was "Is it? - I didnt even notice"
(Meaning - I couldnt care less)
I dont mind partaking in Harvest celebration - as it signifies thinking of others. Xmas is recounts the story of jesus, and we focus on sharing gifts with loved ones.
However, halloween has no meaning behind it and is just a waste of time.
A woman came to our house an hour or two ago with her kid and my 6 year old sister answered the door and said "we don't have any sweets" so they went away empty-handed :D.
Our area is mainly Asians, so I doubt they'll have many sweets when they go home, and it's freezing outside,
simmilar with us but the asian kids literally dnt tke no for an answer but i like the younguns becuz they respected the fact that some asian families dont give out nething where as u see the older kids egging houses who dnt give dem nething
