I've had a few funny experiences with the police but mostly they've been good.
I've been stopped and searched a couple of times and a while back I was rightly stopped having just picked up a bunch of young Asian drug dealers, who because they were panicky had me driving very erratically before I pulled over, but I explained how I knew them and the police let us go without searching anyone, which is probably quite lucky. Usually if I get stopped it's just something like a headlight not working or minor speeding and they haven't overreacted.
I know from working with the council how overstretched the police in London are. It's very frustrating when they don't respond to incidents on time and juggle their priorities at someone's expense. All I can suggest is the paperwork is ridiculous and there has to be a better system, say whereby they can dictate incidents to civilian assistants.

I was driving in B'ham (near the handsworth area) during New Year eve time.
Our car was stopped for a 'random alcohol test', cos it was that time of year.
It was amusing that out of all of the cars they could have stopped they stopped the car full of Muslims.
Thats pretty much the only experience I've had with the police - that and the constant pulling over and asking them 'Excuse me Sir, but how do I get to...'. And they're usually pretty helpful.
(My reverse lights don't work - I'm usually stopped for that too, when they catch me reversing).

Not totally true, esp. with the number of police officers there are in London. The police have their priorities and respond to the incident which requires more attention quickly. There's sometimes traffic jams which can hold up police vehicles.
And I agree with Mr Honey, the paperwork is just too much.

Would you also say that to the people who serve in the army, or the fire brigade?
MS - it's best that you replace the bulb as fiesta's only have one reverse light, the people behind you won't know if you're reversing.

But not pizza delivery guys?

Pizza delivery guys have mopeds which can avoid traffic jams by squeezing through vehicles.
Police cars / vans can't do that when the whole road is jam packed. I've been in many situations where there is a police car behind me with flashing lights and sirens and it can't move bcoz there's no space. Imagine a main road with 4 lanes, all of them blocked with traffic. They can't do anything and have to wait for the traffic to move and give them space.
Police on motorbikes normally respond to traffic incidents.

Because of the congestion in and near central london, they have introduced bobbies on mountain bikes. They are fast, can avoid traffic jams and can chase after suspects through narrow alleyways (which cars can't do).
I drove to forest gate (which is not too far from where I live) today and saw about 20 police vehicles on my way there, the big BMW's (similar to the M5) look really good and sometimes have armed police in them. Btw I also saw two police cars chasing a black guy who was on foot and arrested him, it was so cool. I wanted to clap but they would have arrested me for taking my hands of the steering wheel.
Assalamualikum Muslim Bro.. Don't think we've met..

I think u misread what I typed. Don't get me wrong, I like the police. I've got a friend who recently became one, and the stuff he does on a daily basis amazes me. Big time respect going out to them.
But you do get the dodgy ones. The army.. I'm sure there are ones in there for the best interests for us British. But after watching some you-tube videos on how they treat people, kids.. I probably would take the p!ss out of them too.
Firefighters, I have big time respect for them. Will never say anything bad about them.

Ain't it kind of ironic that the vast majority of muslim these days seem to think the police are corrupt? Well let's be blunt would you rather go thru the legal system here or say Bangladesh or Pakistan or erm the middle east? Unfortunately muslim countries are not synonymous with the term "justice". They're just muslim by name yet we muslims wax lyrical about them forgetting their legal system has serious problems, and as for cops they are easily payed off if you're rich.

^ thats interesting sister.
To be blunt,.. nope I wouldn't.
But I fail to see the irony.
I say its interesting because I've seen you argue against the "if you don't like it here go back" attitude quite a few times on here.
