perhaps they shud make walking in middle of rd an offence as it is in america.

I admit i wanted to run across the rd coz it was empty but apparently u have to use the lights over there coz if u get caught u get fined or something?

It's called Jaywalking, you can get fined in some places, it's usually not an issue until some idiot gets hit, then in court the driver can say "but he was jaywalking"

In the peoples democratic republic of New York City they are talking about banning the use of cell phones and iPods for pedestrians walking anywhere in NYC.

City Council is seriously whacked out

Hey I thought in Islam it was really bad to reveal our dreams to others, especially them type?

Those bus stories are really bad.

Something similar happened to my sister, my other sister texted me about it and I couldn't stop laughing, her msg was hilarious, but the actual incident was crazy. She was about to get onto the bus and had only got one foot in when the doors closed with her foot still stuck. The driver, I don't know how, didn't see her and started pulling out to drive off, she hopped along with it for a while, but when the bus picked up speed, she fell on the road. Others on the bus who'd seen her fall alerted the driver and only then did he stop. Embarrassed, she jumped straight up, but she was in agony and bleeding. She managed to take a few steps to sit down on the bench, but she was in total shock. The bus driver didn't even get out to see if she was ok, he was waiting for her to get on the bus! Anyway she caught the next bus, but when she got back from work you could still see she was visibly shaken by it all. It was just the shock of coming so close to something so bad, I mean he could have just rolled over her head. The driver couldn't have cared less.

I think I’m gona stick to walking from now onwards, i didn't realise how dangerous buses can be.

Crossing the road.

She was half on the road when the bus came round the bend...God knows how she didnt see the bus and how the bus didnt see her.

Totally random but I had a dream last night where a guy I know got hit by a bus and probably died (dream was pretty inconclusive).

and the fact that its about someone dying makes no difference to you wat so ever?????

It's a puppet! Sorry, I mean dream.

Besides I did say the ending was inconclusive. May have survived.

I checked the next day after returning from work. One relative had died, another in intensive care, but nothing related to being hit by a bus, or to individuals in the dream.

Besides I just gave an outline, not details (which are pretty surreal... a pretty big 'huh?')

I have to say this is prettyy insensitive but because I mentioned this after someone mentioned someone actually being hit by a bus.

There are plenty of scare stories about everythign, but life must go on. Afterall flying is statistically just as safe as riding a bike...

I've seen plenty of impatient pedestrians who think it is alright to cross the road when the light is green (for the drivers) and when there is a vehicle approaching fast.

I was going home from uni and saw a bus turning left and the road itself wasn't that big and schoolchildren were standing on the road even though they saw the driver was having problems turning bcoz of the small road, their toes deserve to be driven over.

Im like that. I cross halfway while the cars are coming... i wait at the middle and then quickly run across.

I've also seen lots of impatient bus drivers who are so peed off at cars not giving them way, they think its OK to drive like maniacs on the roads and not stop for old ladies or women with push chairs.

And by the way, no one 'deserves' to have their toes driven over, esp not school children.

That just reminded me.. right this little girl who lives down my road was holding on to the door handle of her uncles car. He got in and started driving off, he didn't realise that she was still holding the door handle so she flew of with him and scrapping all her feet at the same time. It was only half way up the road did he realised his niece was clinging to the door handle.

"MuslimSister" wrote:

It's part of the highway code that vehicles give way to buses, it's understandable for them to be 'peed' off. I myself often get 'peed' off when I've been waiting for half a minute and no-ones giving me way.

"MuslimSister" wrote:

If they don't want their toes to be driven over they shouldn't be standing in the road, should they? The pavement was built for pedestrians to wait on, not the road. That reminds me, a few weeks ago I was waiting to cross the road (the light was green) and two guys thought it would be alright to cross the road, little did they know they were nearly hit by a car, they should consider themselves lucky.

I know cars must give way to buses and I cant blame them for getting peed off, however getting peed of is NO excuse for driving like a maniac around bends, not stopping for old women, women with pushchairs, wheel chairs etc which I’ve seen countless bus drivers do….up until last year I practically lived on buses, so I know what buses are like.

I’m pretty sure people only stand/cross streets when they’re sure that no bus/car is coming….no one WANTS to get hit by a vehicle, sometimes, people just don’t see a vehicle coming.

My cousin is lying in hospital right now having microsurgery on her crushed toes. She was crossing the road and didn’t see the bus coming; she certainly didn’t ‘deserve’ what happened to her, just cos she didn’t see it coming.

What's happened to your cousin is terrible but I was talking about people, and I was referring to school children here (who I saw) were literally a few inches away from the bus AND standing on the road knowing that a bus was coming towards them or turning.

Can I also ask, how can you not see a bus coming, is it too small; hard to notice or do people have bad eyesight, or do they not look before they cross?

I have seen way too many times people crossing the road before looking as if they expect the drivers to stop suddenly and not hit them, even when the lights are green. It is common sense to look before crossing and alot of the roads have the markings 'look left/right before you cross the road' on them and even tells them to cross only when the 'green man' is lit but people obviously can't read English can they

muslimbro that's terrible, children of all people do not deserve to be put through such pain, they're children for crying out loud, they're allowed to make mistakes or even be unaware of the obvious!! :?

MuslimSister,

Wishing your cousin a speedy recovery.

I recall two bus incidents in London in the space of a week. In the first a bus overshot the bus stop and in the course of stopping sharply, hit me on the kerb, squeezing me against the bus shelter, where I was waiting away from the stop so that ladies could get on with their shopping. I wasn't really hurt. The driver in his confusion hesitated before opening the doors and then tried to tell me to use my eyes. I remonstrated briefly because there was a queue and I needed to get to work. In the second incident I was on my way back from work and the driver was turning right into a one-way and looking left, so he didn't see an elderly pedestrian until he'd knocked him over with a loud thud. In that incident the man's head was badly bleeding and I had to call an ambulance. So while it's a stressful job and I always smile in appreciation, I'm not entirely sympathetic to bus drivers when they have accidents.

Can I just say I meant secondary school children and not primary.

Children who are 15/16 years old are perfectly capable of knowing right from wrong (and obviously we all make mistakes) but they should know how to cross the road for goodness sake.

Many educated people have accidents.

Doctors have car accidents, I know an accountant whose car got trashed, pharmacist sometimes gets hit by buses.

Point is, not everyone who can’t read English or don’t understand the rules of the road get knocked over by cars/buses.

Accidents DO happen. And in many instances, you usually hear the one who is hurt “I didn’t see the car/bus coming”.

I know its difficult to imagine not seeing a huge bus/car coming. But it does happen.

just a little word of warning about bus drivers, I have a story about my friend and noone will believe me but waAllahi its TRUE!!

We were 15 yrs old in yr 10 and he used a fake drivers licence to get a job in a bus garage in NW london, he used to bunk off afternoon lessons to start his round, finish at 1 in the morning and come to school again the next day!

He got the sack after about 6 months for having a race with his other bus-driver friend (who was a legal driver) when he spun out of control and went up onto the curb!!

That guys nuts

you were right... i dont believe you

Back in BLACK

What would I possibly stand to gain by making something like that up?! :? We actually saw him driving near my house. One of the teachers found out and told him he should go to the police, but the teacher was too nice/meek so just pretended to not notice it. why wouldn't you believe your Muslim brother when he swears by the name of Allah (swt) ?! Sad

he also flipped his car when he was 16 yrs old, and if you don't believe THAT then i have pictures to proove it!

I just want people to know that most bus companies don't care who they employ, how late the buses run, how many feet they run over etc... the scary thing is that his friend, who also got the sack for racing, got another job in a nearby bus garage a few months later...

Don't just do something! Stand there.

okkay sum questions to prove the legitimacy of your story :?

how do you get hold of a fake driving licence :?:

how did he learn to drive at 15? learning to drive is hard work and he managed to drive a bus which is extremely hard especially because you got to negotiate lots of tight gaps and when to turn tight corners , i mean to drive a bus at 15 without having a regurlar car and driving licence he must be at formula 1 level now :!:

how did he manage to get a job at 15 yrs old as a bus driver :?: because every job asks for a National insurance number which is individual and tells your age, besides every job ive had they have asked for more than one form of ID :?:

how did he manage to miss half a day of school for 6 months without the school realising his missing :?: i mean there is only so many dentist appointments and stomach upsets you can get Lol , and i know how strict schools are these day with attendence i even know of a freind of mine whose parents went to court cuz he missed school and for him to miss half a day for 6 months im sure the school would have contacted his home for sure :!: :?:

and you sed he finished at 1 am every morning , didnt his family ask where he goes :?: because i cant think of an explanation he could come up with for 6 months to come back at 1 am everyday :!: :?:

you sed he got the sack after racing with his other bus driver freind , why didnt he get investigated :?: im sure the bus company would have led some sort of investigation before sacking him

I have a freind who was a bus driver and i know you have to have a full licence check to see if you have no points they actaully go through the DVLA licencing to check up on your licence for points and to hire a underage driveris a big offence which means they have thorough checks

so answers please :?: :?:

oy!! thats well harsh. he's a newbie for pete's sake go easy. you don't even have any reason to suspect him of lying, and its a sin to harbor suspicions about ur muslim bro without any evidence. and beyond all that, don't you have anything better to do than analyse the nitty gritty of someone's story...

thanku for ur show of support dust! however i will try to answer as many of the questions as possible because A) i want to prove im truthful , Dirol its an interesting(ish) story and C) its a sunday morning and i dont seem to have much else to do except watch Toon-attic (and im atleast 14 years too old for that!)

ok mr nas786 (if that IS your real name?!):

1st thing to bare in mind is he looks very similar to his older brother who is very nice but a bit nuts,

Quote:

there are many ways, you can buy a fake passport or driving licence on the blackmarket for less than £2000, if you know someone in the DVLA who is a bit dodgy u can pay them, u can make one urself because the old ones didn't have photo ID on them or anything... i don't know exactly how my friend got his, but i know its quite easy to do...

Quote:

my friend LOVES cars. he's loved cars since he can remember. his only toys when he was a kid wer those matchbox ones and his only computer games wer Gran Turismo-type games etc. So when he was tall enough (about 13 years old) his older brother taught him how to drive in the empty estates and car parks of north london. by 15 yrs old he was quite experienced!

when you apply to become a bus driver, you present your (real or fake) driving licence and they take you on a week-long PCV (passenger carrying vehicle) course. you learn how to negotiate tight corners etc.

Quote:

he is now, like me, 21 and has (unlike me) had regular cars throughout the time i'v known him (since year nine). before i was muslim i used to go around with him all the time and he'd try to race everyone in sight! a year or so ago he went on a one-day course at a racetrack and learned how to handbrake turn and drift and all those sorts of things (so while not quite formula 1, he's not actually far off!)

Quote:

i dunno the specifics, but i do know his brother's ID was used at some point in this. his fake licence said he was 19 or something, i can't quite remember. i think u also put a lot of faith in the integrity of the bus station managers. when they're on a recruitment drive (no pun intended) why wouldn't they just gloss over all the applicants unless something looked seriously out of place? many of my friends had facial hair from about 11-years old and some were served alcohol at the age of 15 or so. I didnt present any ID at my current job and they didnt even check my references!!

Quote:

i think ur overestimating my school now... i think its got stricter since i left, but while is was there we could get away with alot. near the beginning of year 11 almost ALL the boys in my class bunked off and went to one of my friends' houses and played Goldeneye on the N64 for almost 2 WEEKS!! we eventually got caught, but they told my mum i'd only missed 1 AFTERNOON OF SCHOOL!! our class had a 'daily record sheet' which is basically a register that one student takes to all the classes. but the form tutor never chased it up if it went missing so there was no point! Plus, my friend who missed afternoon lessons for 6 months was a 'bit' of a trouble maker, so i think teachers were either relieved he wasn't in the class causing mischief, or thaught he was with the deputy-head teacher getting told off.

Quote:
and you sed he finished at 1 am every morning , didnt his family ask where he goes because i cant think of an explanation he could come up with for 6 months to come back at 1 am everyday

this is where the story gets a little sad... his mum kicked him out of the house at 14 cos he was getting into lots of trouble. he went to stay with his nan but when she couldn't keep him in check he moved in with his step-dad who is a bit of a drunk. he also works long hours, so my friend had pretty much free range to come and go as he pleased. alhamdulillah he has a much better relationship with his family now, but i afraid for a few years any letters and phonecalls from school would fall on deaf ears...

Quote:

why? why would they waste their budget on investigating something in which noone got seriously hurt, pressed charges or tried to sue. they both were quietly 'encouraged' to resign and no fuss was kicked up. you have to remember this all happened before magical ken livingstone single-handedly saved the london transport network from extinction. personally i'v noticed radical imrovemant on services throughout london and im sure its cos they now run proper checks on people!

i'v tried to answer as many questons as i could. if there are any gaps then its cos i honestly dont know how he exactly got away with it...i DO know that he did, however.
most people i'v told this dont believe me atall, until the meet the guy that is, cos he is quite unique and charismatic.

he's been driving illegally for 7/8 years now and gone though dozens of cars. i've been pulled over by police while with him and when they ask him to see his licence adn insurance information he says he hasn't got it with him. so they tell him to produce his documents within 7 days to the nearest police station. bu they never chase him up when he doesnt show up because on their file, his occupation is listed as 'bus driver' or 'car mechanic' etc so they don't wanna waste their time chasing up someone who they think inevitably has a valid licence.

i think its not possible to do anymore cos the police has a centralised database with the DVLA and insurance companies and can check just by looking at the number plate. so i think he's gonna give it up and actually finally try to take his test....

i feel like i'v written an essay so i hope your happy....

Don't just do something! Stand there.

yep much happier Biggrin , very interesting story which now is believe-able and you managed to answer all my questions  lol thanks bro i can sleep at night now in peace Lol

yeh bro he should go clean , theres only so much a person can get away with , but yeh i do know a few people like that who like to push the law and get away with driving without a licence/insurance but i also know those who ended up in jail cuz of driving offences which could have been avoided if they werent so idle

those race track things sound like fun though might try one myself

I saw a program on TV on all this fake stuff a few years ago.

Apparently some guy used David Blunkett (the then home secretary)'s birth certificate to get himself all this fake stuff.

Birth certificates are available from public information offices or something, and with them you can get anything.

It may have been a Donal McIntyre investigation, but I am not sure.
